How do I sign up for a Pista blast on the Autobahn?

Look at this another way.

Last month, I think, there was a restaurant that refused to seat a kid and his father because they wanted to eat their own food. We had a thread on it, in P&R. Most folks here applauded the restaurant for not giving away that which they should make a profit on, that there was no reason to let the guy freeload.

What's the difference here? Brooks was given the rules when he signed up. He agreed to them as well. Remember you check off a box acknowledging the TOU when you signed up? And, he didn't post one video, he posted dozens of them. Freeloading. and to claim ignorance doesn't really get it done. Shame on you if you don't read the one page TOU that you agreed to.

Was he warned? Honestly, he didn't have a lot of other content here, so I thought it was unnecessary. He's pretty much spamming the board with his videos. In his entire time here, he has less than 70 posts that are NOT his videos, or comments on his videos. so 13 years, 60 something posts, less than 5 a year? You guys are all calling him a contributing member, he's not a contributing member, he's a commercial guy. more than half his posts were commercial links to his youtube videos.

It’s pretty simple, whether you agree or disagree with the rules, just pay the sponsorship. Not sure why a discussion is needed? No one would go to the dealer and say, could I have that Ferrari at cost because I don’t make so much money from my business?

Brooks seems a straight-up guy (though I think plastering fchat all over his channel, and claiming he’s banned because Ferrari people don’t like his comparisons with 720, is a bit of a low blow and brings both fchat and its members into low repute unnecessarily). Still, I’m sure he will come to a proper sponsors arrangement if he wants to continue. Be nice to see a correction on his channel though, unless he still believes his ban has to do with his Mac v Ferrari content?

.....just a side point; I’m wondering as I write why he immediately jumped to the conclusion it was his ‘anti-Ferrari’ content (as he intimated) that got him banned? Maybe it suits his objectives to stir up emotions on his channel - Ferrari being the market leader and ‘obvious choice’, it’s a nice angle to build doing something different into a sort-of campaign. I actually don’t mind that, fair play. I think it works as an angle and some people would respond to that. But pay the fee.

 

That vid was but a mere teaser commercial for the next video. Set the pins, roll the ball. Brooks (with a little help from his friends) knows exactly what he is doing.

 

I dont have a problem with him posting his videos.
I dont have a problem with Fchat removing the videos.
I dont have a problem with him making a video saying he was banned for 30 days on his website.

I do have a massive problem with him saying the reason he was banned was cause the Fchat admin didnt like the Ferrari not performing as well as it could have against the 720.

I have both - 720 and a Pista incoming and there have been endless discussions comparing the two on this site but at no times has the admin ever censored or removed a post that put Ferrari in a bad light. Some Ferraris are great. Some suck. I mean, look at the 458. It sounds terrible so you could expect to hear negative comments on it.

 

Agree - so obvious - borderline pathetic given the obvious motivation to again prove his point on a ferrari board that his beloved 720 is faster in a straight line. Like f/g big deal, not everyone buys a ferrari to have a pissing contest. Seems the only ones bothered making a fuss over his ban are the ex ferrari owner crowd and/or 720 owner - and going by how some mainly post negative comments about the brand its getting a bit old. Get over it fellas.....move on. The show is over - thank god.

 

It wasn't ONE video, it was TWO DOZEN videos. Maybe more. All commercial, all linked on youtube to his page. All getting him clicks and income.

If it had been ONE video, I would have deleted it, warned him and that would have been the end of it until he posted the next one. BUT, it wasn't one.

His intent, clearly indicated by the volume of posts linking his videos here vs. his non commercial posts makes it abundantly clear what his intentions were. MONEY, he wants to make money. Nothing wrong with that, but when you want to do it on FC, you need to pay for the privlege.

 

^This exactly my thought, in this thread there is also some posts of the same fast jumping to the conclusion that it's because Pista lost some drag race or whatever other measurable data in other brands favour (haven't seen any of his content) that the issue occurred with the mods stepping in, if I were the mods I would most certainly be annoyed with the quick jumping on conclusions and don't think that the mods here have a better understanding of the problem and really does their research which I think they did in this case before they banned him IMO

 

And the way he carried on like a pork chop with his banned video - like seriously? Like put it to bed for gods sakes man! He got caught with his trousers down and needs to move himself on and, with some form of dignity preferably. That vid just serves as further embarrassment - for him. If i were him i’d get rid of it.

 

Running McLaren teasers and infomercials on the Ferrari Channel free of cost, and then playing the victim over being temporarily banned. So disingenuous.

 

It's beyond short sighted.... do the admins even understand about advertising and traffic? Just look at this post alone, 900 views so far, multiple ads per page... none of which would have happened without the content from DragTimes.... furthermore, the forum peeps here LIKE the content. So the rules are saying the person generating the content can't make the post, but others can? It's SAME thing in the end.... as for protecting the advertisers, that's a total joke, let's see one of the advertisers step up and complain and more related views for their banners from cool content... total joke guys... the admins are so protective over their Ferraris, they are cutting off someone that posts good content because he likes McLaren as well.....

 

Yeah the way he handled the situation is kind of pointing the middle finger to the mods and in my world a sign that he is hunting views and subscribers with in this case a false click-bait (this is how I see it before any here jumps on me). Hope his channel does not grow if he continues this way stirring up drama without relevance.

I also feel sorry for the mods as it seems they need to defend why they banned him when it is very clear for me at least why he got a 30 days suspension. Heck even I've got banned in the past for doing IMO less "illegal" things on this forum which I am ok with, this forum is a free source of information and great knowledge, so we should be grateful with the work being done keeping f-chat clean and relevant according to the terms we all have clicked and agreed upon, like in this case

Not buying it Dave. Two dozen videos over 13 years is a couple videos a year. Let's say he gets a 100 clicks per video. He's getting chump change for two dozen videos from Fchat traffic. Perhaps he made enough for a budget steak dinner.

 

Let's face it it doesn't have anything to do with HIM making money, it has to do with F-Chat NOT making money.

Your argument started reasonably. I think it's fair to debate when/how posting of commercial content might benefit or hurt Fchat.

As far as protecting sponsors; if all a sponsor has to do to bypass sponsorship fees is post a bunch of Youtube videos, they will do it. I mean why not? If I own business X, guess what? I'm going to post a YouTube commercial of business X everyday, because you know, YouTube videos get a pass.

I couldn't help but laugh that you close by saying this is all about protecting Ferrari as the 'real' reason for all this. Good grief, if that's the case, why hasn't this thread been shut down?

It's a slippery slope. There has been plenty of videos posted by members that go to monetized sites. Why have those not been banned? What makes this particular post a big difference from those past examples?

In the spirit of compromise and a win-win, hey maybe the solution is he has to advertise Fchat on his videos? I don't know.

He didn’t post for first 7 years, only has 69 posts and 1 like, most recently had been posting his videos, not over 13 years. quit being so foolish. You really think he has been some long time contributor? He’s just a random user, reported by other users as far as we are concerned.

Intent doesn’t change his breaking the rules. His content is allowed, but his business is not (without sponsorship)

Please report all examples of users that you suspect are posting commercially, especially those that have businesses directly benefitting from posted links and/or media, and we will review them.

 

looking at the sponsor page, they are for Ferrari parts, car sales, tires, auctions, there are NO content creators advertising, it would be pretty obvious if an exhaust company came on and posted videos of parts they are selling... however, what Brooks posted was original, unique content that many forum members clearly enjoy....

without the content that the forum members post here, this place does not exist.... ferrarichat has no problem monetizing on the backs of it's forum members, and even charging them for things, but when a member/content creator makes a buck the other way around, while still allowing ferrarichat to profit by the views/ads on the related content, all hell breaks loose... interesting, eh?

pretty sure this thread will be shut down soon.... too many people disagree with the admins....

Lol. I actually was signing up and then came back and posted and didn't see that mod post till just now. But yeah - def. funny.

 

about the last dozen were posted from March 2015 to present.that's one every ninety days. It's probably a higher number, but without access to the mod logs, it's hard to determine exactly where the threads were and how many were deleted. I did a quick search and stopped after 12.
