Merc bringing some big upgrades including bigger rads for the hot conditions.

Amazing to think Vettel was leading the WDC this time last year.

Wow they have been busy, I would have thought it was extremely difficult to just bolt on new rads, new larger rads mean larger ducts / openings otherwise its a pointless exercise ie you need a larger volume of cooling air over a larger radiator free area ? Wouldn't that then upset their aero package...something odd here!

If they have updated the cooling package in such a short space of time then why does it take SF so long to revise their car.

Well, there are things you can do without redoing the whole car : they could have worked in the density and efficiency of the radiators or opened more exits in the bodywork. All that spoils the aero but I think that Mercedes can afford to loose some speed.

True, radiator efficiency could have been improved but it would have to be significant, you need to do all those things. You cannot just change one item without it affecting everything else. Impressive they have it sorted so quickly!

    Best

The Mercedes Formula 1 team's revised aerodynamic package for this weekend's German Grand Prix includes specific fixes for the cooling problem that compromised its Austrian GP.

The cooling problem was not expected to be a problem in the British Grand Prix, but Mercedes was aware that it could resurface in the German and Hungarian GPs due to Europe's ongoing heatwave.

Bottas, speaking ahead of the track action in Germany, said that the changes have given Mercedes "quite a few degrees" of margin to help it manage high temperatures.
