An Italian friend and a second who lives near maranello believe with all the problems at the Scuderia, that sabotage could be at work. Any comments?

Like all conspiracy theories, it's appealing - but experience tells that in most cases explanations are simpler... I'd suspect pure incompetence as a more likely cause.

My pal from above maranello says that last Oct/nov a Ferrari engineer rode through his town naked, was arrested and we don’t if he is still with Ferrari.

I’d love to think the solution was that simple, I’ll send timebomb there to run security, and when we find the scumbag we will bury them in the grounds of fiorano. However, I’m not so sure it could be that

It was an interesting story that at Mercs home race both Ferrari’s which have been mostly reliable had an issue killing their qualifying. I don’t put anything past the people in F1. Quite literally ANYTHING is possible. If it was sabotage then it failed because the Ferrari’s were flying and Merc self destructed in a slow suicide. It was quite beautiful.

I can see it going both ways. Stepney lived in Serramazzoni, and we know what he did. Plenty of other Ferrari employees live in the area, so most everyone is aware of what's going on.

And let's not forget that Italy is the land of Machiavelli. Fiat had the labour issues during the 1970s.

I error on the side of the team being new, Binotto not having the same upper level experience as Marchionne, or Wolf, and hence the errors happen for whatever reason. Hopefully with the management additions below Binotto, we will see improved performance.

Results yesterday were great, Seb drove a great race and hopefully is getting his head back to where it should be.

Charle incident was no better or worse than Hams, Bottas', Hulkenburg et el.

Another comment from a friend above Maranello, why are tyre changes now taking so long when in the past, Ferrari was the fastest with its changes and pit stops in general?

It does seem they are not focusing on having the best pit and really have slidden down on pit performance.

I would agree but yesterday's tyre changes were not very good. Hard to believe that the team has become so lethargic. Perhaps the change of management from last year had some effect, but why these people are still in their jobs is beyond me.

If there is any sabotage its from the Leadership vacuum left by Marchionne. No offense to the Italian people -but this is what those of us in the English world talk about being too latin -or too Italian. From watching and cheering for Ferrari from 1972 on, I think if you look at the successful times vs. the unsuccessful times it's pretty clear its down to Leadership.

When Enzo was alive and he had someone who was direct and to the point telling him the truth - the team was successful... Montezemolo the first time, Forghiere, and then Piccinni..... then After he died - the Montezemolo, Todt, Brawn, Byrne. It was only when Montezemolo instituted " an all Italian" framework, that Ferrari started to suffer from more internal politics, and then the press got ahold of them again. Today - Marchionne did not have enough time to consolidate his control. and John Elkan and the rest of the Angelli Family are not experienced enough managers... Piero is not well thought of internally, and there is nobody else who commands the loyalty and fear needed.

Ferrari have ground Vettel down into a shell of himself, and Leclerc is too young yet to realize it ... Sabotage? yes, but its from within - and they don't even realize it. How can you spend almost $1B on an F-1 team and not complete qualifying? its beyond embarrassing, its shameful. its like having sticky switches in a $500K car? how can that be?... simply nobody cares, and they are believing their own story.

Tire changes are hardly the issue. tire strategy, and engineering for Qualifying is very poor. Again its a lack of leadership. Binotto may be a fine engineer, but to be a leader you have to be in charge, and use the whip and carrot from time to time. There should be no complaints about the drivers until they can deliver a reliable car. that is #1 - you have to be there to finish.

It's Ferrari. They are known for "Grande Casino", "Grande Chaos" and all that. They have been a disaster for years after the Lauda days. It took an entire dream team (MS, Brawn, Todt and others) and 5 years to get them back on track. Now we're just back where we were before the dream team years. Just another symphony by the "Panic orchestra".
