I have come to the conclusion some time ago that most people hate a winner, be it in politics, in business, in sciences, in Entertainment, in sport, and of course in F1. There are légions of critics, journalists, polemists, pressure groups and social media who make their mission in life to denigrate the achievements of successful companies, or individuals that have accomplished something. It's a sad fact of life now.
You’re both being a bit overreactive. They were simply wanting a local driver to do well. So they cheered for Vettel.
Enzo Ferrari was a bit of a prima donna, and Bernie was very OCD too. What's important to me is that their methods brought success to their enterprises. I am not married to them, so I don't care about their personality.
The atmosphere yesterday was electric. Lots of cheering for Seb, Max and Charles. Those orange smoke cannisters give off a certain fragrance though
Are there any multiple title world champions who haven't made enemies of other drivers and their fan groups? Max, as of yet, has no titles, so he isn't the one everyone is looking to beat. All the best, Andrew.
So the one's in orange like Max and the one's in red like Seb/Ferrari? Who knew ? Clearly not some people
And you do not think that this "people hate a winner" is a bit too simple minded??? For some there is more unlikable stuff on Lewis than just "being a winner"....One can also argue that someone posting this only wants to denigrate other people Don´t you think that those guys in the UK cheer when a rival of their Lewis or simply a driver they do not like is out??? I remember some Mercedes-fans cheering last year when Seb was out!!!
I think all fans take 'flak' lol. We are passionate and its ok. We know in the end we hope for good racing as well.
And Honda seems to finally be building the motor everyone expected them to build when they got back into F1. Is it just me, or does the Honda name seem to be getting bigger on the sides of their cars? But I'm hard pressed to understand why Renault is still lagging behind. They've had the time to work out their problems and know what they have to do. Yet they haven't done it. Is it that well documented French stubbornness? I remember back in the 80s when Renault introduced the turbo to F1 and everyone laughed at them...but very soon everyone was going to them. Do the current engine rules eliminate the ability to innovate alternate versions of engine development?
When Ricci's turbo expired in a big plume of white smoke I was having a flashback on the days of Jabouille and Arnoux in the yellow cars. Some things never change... As for RB and Honda: I do hope that they are turning the corner. At this moment they have beaten Ferrari, but I really want them to go after MB. Max deserves to become WDC. I hope Honda has built the engine to make that happen. I'm sure Newey already built the car for it, no worries there. So they have 2/3 of the package. Fingers crossed. Not so much for this year (although it'd be nice to see Max pass Bottas in the standings) but here is hoping for next year.
Honestly I am ready for someone, anyone to stop the Merc domination. If it is Max I would be quite OK with that.
If you have a car moving forward say with a driving force of 30KN and a friction force opposing it say 5KN, then the resultant force is 25KN, if the car then suddnely loses the friction force 0KN ( zero grip) then the resultant force is 30K as opposed to 25KN previously. Factor in other paramenters if the mass is spinning, especially as the weight & mass is more rear biased on a F! car, then the whole thing gets rather complicated mathematically. Have you ever seen a car on a skid pan in a spin. When it loses the frictional resistance then the spin gets faster due to rotational inertia. Tony
