Buy them and drive them. Hate to see these cars sit because of depreciation worries.

It’s like my Dodge Demon guys bought them new, put them on a trailer and have them in storage hoping they go up in value. Mine is my daily driver , has 18,000 miles and gets driven in the snow on
Blizzaks!

 

Am I missing something , the F8 doesn't look like it has any water jets for the front lights.

Is this because they are LED's now ?

 

Have read something about speed sign detection. Not sure where I read it.

 

My Audi S5 has speed sign detection. The speed limit can be displayed on the windshield along with your actual mph. You can set the cruise control to automatically change to the speed limit...l don’t.

I like those wheels better than the current options!

BTW, seems the Pista may be done by the end of 2019, so F8 production pushed until 2020? What’s the best guess when the US will see production F8’s?

 

I was at my dealer today, they will receive their demo car in Q4 - that's probably the cars the factory is preparing now. First deliveries should be Q1 2020 (I will try to get mine by then even though I've been told Q2).
Currently they receive Pista and Pista spiders (they had a few waiting for deliveries).

 

Yeah that’s what my dealer is saying too, just finding it hard to believe because I think the EU cars will go first? See what happens.

 

I saw the F8 in person and it is beautiful!

I also heard it and the Pista and there is a noticeable difference in sound volume and tone. Pista is as you would expect: louder and more aggressive.

I think the F8 is a phenomenal car, but I don't think Ferrari is going to make a car that completely undercuts their just released Special Series. I would expect the Pista to feel more alive and connected the F8 to feel a little bit more GT oriented. The comparison I am most interested with F8 is how it compares to 488 GTB. I think it will be a big step ahead in that regard. I think the comparison to the Pista is understandable, but not quite where I would look. Ferrari always makes their special series cars feel like they stand apart from the regular models- and the regular models stand apart from everyone else cars! This is what they do and why Ferrari is special.

 

Interesting comment about the sound- was at my dealer a few days ago where they had a Pista coupe and spider in the showroom waiting for delivery. They were parked right outside my reps office. We were chatting and he stated that the Pistas were super loud. Louder than other Ferrari’s. Not sure what to make of it but it mirrors your comment about the sound.

 

I had the lucky encounter of following a pista into the office this morning. Definitely louder than a stock 488. However, when a 458 ripped by flat out in the opposite direction it was very clear that not only does that car sound better, but also is much, much louder than the Pista.

Typical sales tactic to hype up the new stuff. The unfortunate reality is that nothing Ferrari comes out with from here on out will compare to the cars from the 2000’s and early 10’s. We we’re truly spoiled in the sound department over recent years. The fact that cars like the challenge stradale and the 599 GTO even exist is a blessing.

He wasn't hyping anything. It was a casual conversation. He doesnt need to sell me on the car as I already have one on order.

And what a lucky day- you were following a Pista and a 458 just happened to be going in the other direction. Pretty cool.

 

God why does Ferrari do this? My 488 was the same. It has the ground clearance of a 4x4!

Good news is that it makes a lift unnecessary...

 

Didnt have one on my 488 and didnt order one on my Pista cause of this nonsense!

 

I think every era has its pros and cons. We are getting truly epic new cars in so many ways. The sound is something that's changing. I tend to prefer the NA sound, but I have had discussions with people who actually prefer the turbo sound. So everyone is different.

I can't wait to get my Pista. Bring on the turbo madness!!

Not sure about ride height, but my guess is they are giving us a great compromise between handling and comfort. It sure does look too high to my eyes though. Maybe theres some regulation involved also? (pedestrian crash standards?)

I'm just glad the new cars don't have less power! That could happen. Who knows how much longer "they" will let sports cars be made. Enjoy every day my friends!

Indeed! As much as I’m trying to warm up to the “upgraded” F8 wheels, looks like I’ll go with the standard wheels and pick up something else... 488 wheels definitely a player.

 

Hmm, I‘ve seen it in person and the front did by far not appear to be that high.
Actually the F8‘s black painted (or CF) lip seems to be much lower compared with the spoiler at the very front end of the 488.
Could be the lift is activated on the car pictured.
I experienced the 488‘s lift truly is rather unnecessary. Not sure with the F8 however..

 

My 488 was similar- rode high. Agree with you I never needed the lift on the 488. I would assume f8 is similar to 488 but haven’t seen one in the flesh. The picture is disappointing.

It really amazes me that seasoned petrolheads don't get the difference between automotive eras. A N/A V8 will always sound better than a turbocharged V8, which in turn will sound better than a newer turbocharged V8, which has to abide to newer sound emission regulations. Do you really think that it is Ferrari's/Lamborghini's/McLaren's/Porsche's fault?

 

In the current market I very much doubt the vendor will achieve any where near that figure, more like list or even under. It's clear the days of buyers paying over retail are finished. Just look at GTB pricing now. Shocking....and getting worse, achieving only half retail at best. So I ask why would anyone pay 1M or more for a Pista when it isn't 3 times the car a GTB is.

F8 will be like GTB where the car will lose half its value in a very short space of time simply because buyers with the money aren't there any more in the used market. Those who want F8 new will have to continue to pay the ticket but they will be the only ones.

Pista will lose value too although not as badly as a GTB or F8 for the simple reason too many were sold and the used market has far too many choices with so few buyers with the money. Wish this wasn't the case but the buying sentiment has changed now in the high end market. Hopefully this means that those who pay the big ticket new start actually driving their cars and putting respectable mileage on them as they sure wont be getting much back when they sell.
