The speedometer drive sensor that I've received from SuperFormance has two wires, one yellow, the other brown. Image Unavailable, Please Login Speedo Drive Sensor Supersedes: 106324 (308 GT4. GTB/S); (208: GT4) 30818070 My wiring harness has two wires that are routed to it: one Red with a black stripe, and the other Green. Before I make a bad assumption, is there a right way to hook it up, and a wrong way to hook it up -- or can I be indiscriminate about which way they go?

I was heading back to Paris after a very nice weekend in Normandy when I saw smoke in my back mirror coming from the right side of the engine. A rapid check to the gauges showed a rising coolant temperature and before I could pull over safely, the smock stoped. I tried to put the heater on in order to drop a little bit the coolant temperature but nothing to do (I understood why later)... Luckily enough, I found very quickly a safe spot on the side of the road and stoped the car. When I opened the boot, it took me 2 seconds to understand that the water pump belt melted while driving (hence the smoke and why it stoped smoking quickly). I never thought this would be useful but I always carry a set of accessory belts in the tool roll of the car, well, actually it was super helpful... I lifted the car, removed the rear wheel, the cover and, from here, had a pretty nice access to the belts. I had to remove the alternator belt before I could install the new water pump belt. Then remounted everything. A check to the coolant level showed that despite all my efforts, I lost some of it during the battle (due to the high temperature). Luckily, I found someone nice enough to go buy some for me at the nearest gas station. I toped up my coolant liquid, bled the system, and checked all the belts/gauges for 5-10 minutes. Once I was confident enough that everything was fine, I continued my route... I arrived a bit late, but at least, I arrived! Two lessons from this adventure: 1. The Ferrari tool roll coming with the car is in fact super helpful (I do understand why they sell so high now! ); 2. When you change your accessory belts during your major, ask for one more sample of each (they are not that expensive) and could save the rest of your journey... I will need to investigate why the first one melted though and hope this will not happen again. The faulty belt (well... what’s left of it) : Image Unavailable, Please Login
Got lunch ready for the days work. Located the missing driver-side door warning light. It was buried deep inside the door. I didn't want to bother with removing the door card so I fished it out Operation style with some medical forceps. Looks like the outer ring disintegrated long ago. Also found a little note from 4/12/2000 regarding some electronic "work-arounds" which will need to be remedied... And going on 20 years ago... Used car archaeology is a fun little hobby. I'm thinking, why not just replace the bad hazard relay instead of jumping wires?

I gave her a new home two days ago (new purchase); I added a new battery, waxed (Meguiars 26), conditioned some pretty dry leather yesterday and ended with a 15-minute drive for fuel and a picture near a local bank. I absolutely love my Boxster S; it sounds wonderful, is a ton of fun to drive, and it's a crime if I sold simply because the values on them are so low. I think a well-kept Boxster, especially an S, is a seriously undervalued car.
Oh, absolutely and 100% agreed! It is now inevitable that you will soon start to make sub-conscious comparisons between the two cars. By any -objective- criteria, the 308 is likely to come off as second-best. The Boxster is 20 years newer, with advanced technology and additional features, not to mention more power and an extra gear in the tranny. But -subjectively-, the 308 will always be your 'keeper' car. It simply, for lack of a better term, has far more "emotion" than any Boxster could ever have (as well, at least for me personally, the entire Porsche line). At any rate, not to stray far off-topic, how do you like your 308's aftermarket grille and front bumper delete? That's the sort of polarizing thing that folks will either love or hate. Cheers - DM
Below is the t-union which came out without a whole lot of angst. remove the tire, Tirewell, air duct, oil cooler made getting at it easy. But it's in far worse shape than I thought. GT Car parts is having a little trouble getting the part. Used ones are in just as bad shape. I went to home depot & the largest metal t-union they had was 3/4" which isn't big enough. I need about a 1" or the metric equivolent. Out to a local autoparts shop to see if they can come close. Oh, anybody can identify that other part that fell out while in there? Is it at least an Italian bug? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Until I kind find the proper part, a "Apollo" PEX 1"x1"x1" barb Metal Tee for $6.30 is a snug fit, but does the job from Home Depot.
Cleaned and applied leather conditioner to some of the pouches. Also thumbs up on Boxster ownership! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
My pop up headlights when flicked up (on) caused my car to loose all power and die, can't remember the last time I drove in the dark and used them, maybe last year. Drove straight back with side lights on only, luckily it was not fully nighttime. Anyway after about a couple of hours pulling my hair out trying to find out why this was happening, I pulled off the surrounds on the pop up headlights and removed the headlamps to get to the wires and found found the fault I have an after market immobiliser fitted and the main wire loom from the alarm was next to the pop up motor ARM and this must of been rubbing against it over the years and has cut through the insulation and shorted it when I popped the head lights up, so the immobiliser cut in. Totally bizarre, it's now cable tied securely away. New LED bulbs ordered while I've got the lamps off from amazon tomorrow. Might as well do another upgrade.
