Image Unavailable, Please Login The more I visit, the more I really enjoy everything about this wonderful state. Dallas yesterday, San Antonio last night and today and Austin tomorrow house hunting. Stayed at the Drury Plaza last night and watched the most amazing laser show, ‘The Saga’ projected on the San Fernando Cathedral. It was pretty awesome! OK, get out your bag of rocks (I’ll duck) but feel I can deal with it if my wife and I buy a home in the Austin area
Welcome! Cool pic. Austin is the official resettlement facility for migrants from the West Coast; you'll do well there. T
Thank you Tom, and Jerry. I just need to bail from the cesspool that California has become. The Austin area is perfect because it’s right in the middle of a territory I’m responsible for. Looking at homes in Georgetown. People are super nice here and on the highways, I have found drivers to be extremely polite.......like letting you in a lane, something Kalifornia drivers simply speed up to block you out from entering ‘their space’!
Dude, Austin is kalifornia Jr. so if your trying to escape your heading right back into the same thing.
That’s what I keep hearing and am hopeful your comment will not be the case. If I make the move, I look forward to taking a deep dive into learning everything about the state, it’s rich history and the core values of the people. My wife keeps telling me, “We need to be in Texas, it’s still full of God fearing people who are nice to one another and respect the flag and the constitution”.
Airport is on the east side of Austin IIRC. Near COTA. Lots of good barbecue out that way in the small towns...T
Enjoy your time around town! I'd be happy to talk with you about Austin if you like. Interestingly, we were out in Marin for the past week (escaping the Texas heat!) and would love to move that direction. I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for in the area that you move to, but would be happy to share thoughts on a few areas/neighborhoods around Austin based on what you would like in a community. Send me a PM if you would like to chat. Cheers, 2cam
Don't forget to check out Houston, it's a world class city. My wife and I grew up in Austin, and still "live" there/here, but we've been really looking hard at officially making the move to Houston. We're north near the Domain now, but if we stayed in the area I'd be looking at areas between Lakeway and Georgetown assuming no need for a daily commute.
I moved from California to Georgetown last year. I rented on the East side of Georgetown and bought a house on the West side. Let me know if you need some info on particular neighborhoods.
Pete -- I don't exactly what size town/city you are looking for. But, don't overlook the area between Austin and San Antonio. I am not an expert on it, but there are some areas there (Hill Country) were I love to spend time. Also, San Antonio airport is an option as well. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Went on a bbq run with an F-chatter, and we hit up a place in what seemed to be the historic section of G'town. Seemed to have a cool vibe without being too hipster, if that makes sense. T
I have to admit, for the first time in my life, I am sick of the sun. I’m praying for just one solid overcast day.
Were you guys here in 2011/2? THAT was hot! Recorded temps in the back yard in the 1-hunnert-teens! This has been a mild summer thus far. Of course, I told that to our visitor from New Jersey, and he thought I was fibbing. Keep up the talk about how hot it is, that should scare off the Californians. T
With all that water vapor in the air down there, I didn't think you guys could get to 100+! That must be a real sauna down there. T
