The Lotus Esprit went through exactly the same tranformations at the same time. It would be interesting if Pat could chime in with his point of view re them...........as a QV,and much more wantable than a 328,owner.......
I nearly bought metallic blue GTB but 2 things turned me off, FF and the fact it was corroded as it was from th UK
They have a little more power, slightly improved aircon, and slightly improved suspension geometry, so they apparently drive better, although compared to a modern car, both the 308 and 328 are similarly antiquated. I had the opportunity to buy one, but the QV has better looks, nicer looking seats, and retains the classic style switch gear
I drove a new 328 back in the day and it had much less torque than my carby 308, also less power above 4000rpm. It didn't drive any better than my car on 16" wheels either. Carby 308's rock, QV is the next best thing.
The Esprit (Turbo) was faster and better handling than the 308 QV, but not as well built. They upgraded it cosmetically in 1988, but it was virtually identical running gear - the big improvement was lengthening the cabin 5cm. The next upgrade was the SE, which had better suspension and (badly needed) brakes, but went to EFI and a charge cooled induction. Power went from 210bhp to 265bhp, which made it a far better drive. The pinnacle was the S4s, with 300bhp, better suspension, proper brakes (with ABS) and better ergonomics. The V8 that followed was a step backwards
If you had a clue, you wouldn't need to ask the question. Suffice to say my 328GTB was easily the best 328 I'd ever driven...and it was still lacklustre compared to any carby 308.
That’s surprising. Black duco hides a lot of details like the belt line, sills, lower spoilers, window surrounds and rear anodized deck louvers.
I have, in anger chasing Stirling Moss at the Climb to the Eagle at the Adelaide GP. I thought it was quite good.
This Cavallino mag cover imprinted black 328s in my brain back in 1986 I just think they look great in black, more brutish. Red GTS is a girls car Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yeah I've got that copy of Cavallino as well and black looks brilliant, I think in that copy there is the French guy with the collection of F1 cars in his garage ?? I'd have a black 328 every day of the week .... I'm a bit over red, but Chiaro blue is a great colour
I have never seen a black 328 Ferrari not covered in swirl marks, white stone chips and obvious paint blemishes. Good in theory but a bit%& to own.
At the last FNR in Sydney there was a lovely black 328 that had none of those problems, check out your old Horsepowers Mark and see the black 328 that won it's class, lovely guy and wife who owned it
