Like to hear from Pista owners if they notice a difference in this exhaust upgrade vs stock. Personally I’d like to find a more aggressive sound.
The Novitec seems to add a bit of raspy sound to the top end, which I like. I need to hear the car more to really know. They tend to do great work though.
You cant judge the sound from videos it generally doesn't do it justice. In general it is too subjective anyways - some want pops and bangs and others dont. IMO the 488 sounds fine and the Pista slightly better. Neither will compete with a Lambo or even a NA GT Porsche.
I really don't understand all this buzz around V8 sound, turbo or not, aftermarket exhaust or not. V8 noise is crap compared to V12 (or flat 12) for me, period. So the choice between V8 and V12 is about trading great music (V12) for something else (reduced weight, agility) but arguing some V8 are better than others does not make sense to me. When I went for a V8, I had to go for the best, which happens to be turbocharged.
I've got to tell you, every time I've heard 488 GTB/ Spider and now Pista, driven in anger, and when I am outside of the vehicle, I think it sounds great! I didn't love the sound inside the cabin of the GTB. Supposedly the spider helps this. And when its not in anger Im not in love with the sound, a bit hollow to my ears. I am looking forward to Pista experience. We all listen for different things with car exhaust sound. I think what's most important is a sense of involvement. I still prefer the NA sound, but I think we are often being far far too critical of the 488 sound. They did a great job. On this limited evidence it seems Novitec has taken it a notch better.
Here we go again... Someone ask a completely legit and good question about the 488. And waddaya know. The 458 cult is back at it, telling us all how much better the 458 sounds. What the hell does it matter that the 458 owners/worshippers think about the 458 in this regard? The intention here was to talk about experiences and ideas about the Pista exhaust and options. What is the relevance of yet again bagging on the 488 compared to the 458? Man it is getting REALLY old, and I think it has gotten to a point where it seems like it serves no other purpose, than to bother and annoy the 488 camp.
Perhaps a contrarian view but I think the Pista sounds great. On track, when you open it up, the higher rev range is a real symphony and the downshifts sound like mini shotguns. I do think I will try straight-pipe mine to make it more raw but even stock I was pleasantly surprised on what it delivers. Is it a NA speciale-like sound? Of course not, nor should it. This is where you go and buy both and stop nagging
