I wonder if these are real customer cars given previous comments that "The first deliveries of these cars will take place in the fourth quarter"

probably a much easier exercise starting with a carbon tub. And they already produce a Spider.

I think we need to see more to be able to say for sure. Its nice looking in the picture. Is this a confirmation of the concept/ a case of the sincerest form of flattery? I guess we will have to stay tuned. In the mean time, I suggest we consider splitting the discussion of the McLaren car into a different thread.

It is $1.5m and has a V8TT...399 pieces...so similar price to Monza, similar production numbers...which one would you buy? I m 100% SP2

I'm more of a McLaren fan (as the F1 road car was my pinup poster dream car) than a Ferrarista but I think the speedster body type is more aesthetically appropriate for a front engined car and the SP Monza seems more aesthetically balanced imo. What do you guys think?

I think sp1 is more extreme than the sp2. It is also nicer and rarer.
I hope ferrari will bring more speedsters under Icona banner.

Didn't ferrari produce mid-engined barchettas before?

It's the same car with a tonneau cover instead of a passenger's seat. Same production numbers also.

    Thats not exactly right.

The SP2 is the SP1 with a seat added. (Perhaps this is splitting hairs)

Ferrari says they will make 499 Monza in total (both SP1 & SP2)- and they are allowing the clients to decide on how many of each. So in theory you could have 499 of only one or the other, or some kind of split.

The car is derived from the 812, which is a two seater. Thus the two seats pre-existed. The SP1 just put a cover over the passenger's compartment. Splitting hairs indeed.
Regarding the production numbers, it is my understanding that the total is 1000, split between the two. My guess is that there will be a similar number of each, perhaps the SP2 having a small edge and for a good reason.

The total production of 499 with the client having the choice of SP1 OR SP2 but not both as some customers wanted. I saw somewhere that it was estimated only 3 in 10 wanted the SP1 version.

That is correct. The balance of orders is about one third SP1, two thirds SP2... so SP1 will be well under 200 cars

Incorrect on both counts. 499 total announced between the two versions, and a large majority to be SP2.

Obviously the SP2 has body modifications vs SP1 beyond seat and cover.
