I think this debate hinges on what type use the car will get. if youre going to keep Ferrari as garage queen, cars and coffee, less than 1000 mi/yr then that's the choice. if youre going to daily drive, 10000 mi/yr, take to track then the c8 is the obvious choice. I used to track my Ferrari and blown head cost me $25k rebuild the 2nd time it was on track. so I would take c8 over 458. ( I don't want stick so no way do I choose f1 trans over c8 with dct but I can see why stick driver take Ferrari too)

The key to this whole C8 vs. 360/F430 comparison is "How does the C8 drive?"
I would never buy a car without first having a test drive of the model.

I did this when contemplating a Gallardo vs. a 430, both often compared with each other.
After test drives, there was no question as to which one would be my next car. The difference was night and day. The Gallardo felt heavy, with slow dull steering vs. the light on its feet, nimble feel of the 430.

The other thing is the experience of owning a Ferrari. I've owned several Corvettes in the past and its not just the car that's different ... it's everything else about Ferrari ownership that's unique. Until you go through it, it's hard to understand why Ferrari is so very special.

So here I am with my gated manual 430.

Fully agree. I can assure you if it isn’t as good or better than my C7, I’ll be right back on Ferrari’s doorstep.

Feel free to post some photos of that gated 430. I can still look.

Ordering is fun, but as Wayne Carini says, “it’s all about the chase.” I had as much or more fun finding the exact car I wanted.

    what about looks?
i have to love the look of the car to really want it.
every one of our cars has a look that i love, that is distinct, that is beautiful to me.

the c8 is likely to be the biggest bang for your mid-engined buck that was ever created.

but i just dont like the looks.

(i might add that i dont like the 488, or the huracan, or the A8, or the 812 etc, just so that you dont think i only like ferraris.)

did i say that i would not get a warranty? no.
i am a car guy so i am always plotting and fantasizing about the 'next' car :)

but if i move forward on the 12c, the plan would be to buy a reasonably sorted one at around 100k, and then send it to Hypercar in SC and have them do their magic for 20k, and get it back completely sorted and 200bhp higher. then you have an active suspension mac with 830bhp....for 120k....sounds good to me.

I’m actually liking the c8 looks as it see it more and more in the wild.

Also given the 14 pages of chatter on this one of many c8 threads— you can’t deny the interest. Are you c8 curious by chance? It’s ok to admit it -)

Won't that void the warranty? I haven't looked into it but how old can a car be before McLaren doesn't warranty it anymore?

    well apparently not.
there was a review of one by that big bald guy in LA, and he asked exactly that question, and the answer was that it should remain valid under the extended warranty.
    but i could be wrong.

    Agree gp!

I’d also say people tunes will change if they are getting passed regularly at hpde’s by a lowly c8.

I’ll be watching for impressions at the limit closely b4 I judge..... but I can say I have a good feeling about it.

We are already passed on the track by "vette guys'. They are also the first ones with off track excursions and heat sink, either of which ending their track time early. :D

I don't really care. Go for it if you like it. A great second sports car. Rear end, fender, and transition to the roof looks too big for that wheel. Let's just enjoy the bang for the buck. Its not Pininfarina.

Why is it taking soooo long for a c8 ring track time ?? Or have I just missed it?

I know for me it’s opened up my eyes a bit. Replacing my daily driver with a C7 Z06 now. In a couple years I’ll replace it with the C8 version once the hype dies down. No reason we can’t enjoy both. If we look at it towards upgrading. I was thinking I would go to a 458 from my 430. But for less money I can keep my 430 and add a new Z06. The experience of two great sports cars will always trump one for me.

Ring time on the base car should be respectable, But, I bet by the time they get to the Zora, you can subtract about 30 sec off that for the 13 mile Ring.

I think the issue with the new corvette will be too many of them …. I know I like having things that are not a dime a dozen, something you don't see every day.. but that's just me... I will stick with Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren and even Porsche ...even thou you see many 911 turbo's... its not like the amount of corvettes that are and will be on the street soon.

I do appreciate tangible comments like this because they can help me see things from different perspectives.

Maybe slightly off topic, but here are side views View attachment 2815833 of a few of my favorites just so I can see the C8 in context with that observation in mind:

The C8 in the side view looks like its stretched a bit too far on wheelbase. It’s not compact like the other aggressive cars and their design scale.

But I was referring to your front 3/4 view.
