The 2019 car has finally been improved and can compete with the rest of the mid field pack. Hopefully these upgrades will help the team put points on the board. Both Lance and Checo are as good as the car they are in. It’s hard to compete in an uncompetitive race car especially in such a tight mid/field pack. The Race Point car has been playing catch-up because the car development only started when the team was purchased out of receivership. That was several months later than the rest of the field so things should start to get better but next year will be the first true test of the team and of Lance for that matter. After two years in a terrible Williams and this year in a late created Racing Point he has never had a real chance to show his true potential. I think the nay sayers May have some crow to eat.

Yes, Bottas is an Irvine in the Ferrari or Patrese in the Brabham and Williams by another name. That said, he is mostly doing what he is supposed to, which is getting enough points as #2 driver to secure the constructors title and take away points from the competition. And he occasionally has moments of brilliance (e.g. Sochi) when he is really fast. But not being able to pass Stroll and crash out like a newbie was probably hard to swallow for the MB board of directors sitting in the MB stands.

    As for Gasly: next please

Gasly has to go. I think Hungary is his last race at RBR. Who next? I like albon but think it will be Kvyat...purely because of the experience and RBR knows what they'll get from him. Can't risk another potential Gasly situation right now.

I'd say put Hulk in but Renault will be unlikely to sell him to Red Bull of all teams.

    Compare Russell to Stroll.......

No comparison LOL. Again his contemporaries show how little talent he has to be in F1.

Just for the record: Stroll is still way ahead in WDC point of his team mate. He is currently 12th of 20 drivers. Fits nicely into the midfield.

From the Autosport LIve Blog this morning that is still working - 09:42 Racing Point's Lance Stroll has a knack for avoiding letting anything slip in a media session that us dastardly reporters might 'spin up' into a storm.

Erwin Jaeggi was at Stroll's media session earlier and we've spent really quite a lot of time trying to pick out some highlights from it for this live blog.

We can tell you that Stroll felt it was "nice just to take some time off and relax" over the summer.

And when pushed for his thoughts on the increasingly possibility of another year with Perez as his team-mate, he offered: "as a driver you just don’t want to have too much controversy inside the team" - which he won't get with Perez because "so far it’s been smooth".

Stroll said approximately 900 other words during his chat with the press but we'll leave you to imagine those.

He'll now hopefully punish us for our sarcasm by getting involved in a spectacular race incident and then being gloriously quotable about it on Sunday. Please.

This thread needs a post - 4 positions back and 25 seconds lol- but in the points - yes. Red Bull would replace him without a question. He drives but the team are literally losing points due to his lack of pace.

    He just has not improved!

As said, Redbull would have chucked him out, given what they just did! (Perez now ahead of the Brat on points!)

With Perez getting signed up on a new contract and looking very comfortable...my money is on the Brat being given his papers! (I'm sure Merc would have a young guy they could offer up! And at the end of they day they need to get one in as both Hamilton and Bottas are seniors!)
