Oops, my bet about the Dutch GP weekend was wrong. Time to book another hotel.

Well: they actually had him, Andreas, in 2009...time has passed, in ten years Grosjean had had the opportunities to prove himself; he even had a car able to win in 2012 and 2013; proof is that his team-mate did actually win with said car. "Time waits for no-one", time for Grosjean to leave, I think...

I think the term is "sentenced".

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Remember Interlagos last year?

Yes, that's Schadenfreude. A whole pile of it.

Ah yes, I vaguely remember. Yeah, agreed. Grosjean is a never-has-been. Next.

And I think he knows it; he was probably hoping that Mercedes would not retain Bottas...the discussions with Renault were probably only his "plan B". Even the company cars are nicer, always better to drive a Mercedes than a Renault, isn't it?

Mercedes still has Russell, they don’t need Ocon. If Haas chooses Grosjean over the Hulk they can go get their bxxxs licked...

It's hard for me to understand why his family didn't take the opportunity to change their name if they took French nationality.
I mean "Ocon" doesn't sound like a very nice surname to have in France !!

Russel still has a lot of porridge to eat before he can be compared to Ocon...

Good for Ocon to have a seat , kind of good news and bad news for him as he will waste a few prime years with Renault going nowhere , hopefully it doesn’t ruin the rest of his career

Looking at Renault now, moving there seems a step down for Ocon, coming from Racing Point.
I think his "promising" career, according to some, will be in tatters before long.

The Butler gets another year carrying Master Hamilton’s bags for the 2020 Championship again. Ocon gets to go to Renault for a year of frustration finishing behind the Renault customer teams, when the real change that Renault truly needs to make is to get rid of Cyril Abitafool and bring in competent top leadership.

I guess it's better to be Number 2 at Mercedes than Number One in most teams.
It's better to Pocket a good wage, a few poles and a couple (or more) of GP victories each year than driving for a second tier team and get no result.
That's the reality, and Bottas seems to me to have common sense.

As for Renault, the team has always suffered from a lack of funds.
The company has never been really committed to the point of financing properly their F1 team like other car manufacturers do.
Abiteboul has been walking a tightrope for years, just like Briatore did years before him.

It is better to have the Mercedes Star on your drive! :)
We could hope to see Renault improve of course. I think that might be possible in some way

Is there a bigger joke than Merc's "young driver program?"

Who wouldn't take a competent driver that listens to his boss? Would be a disaster having two drivers constantly ignoring orders and battling for position rather than cooperate. That's how you crash and end up with no points at all. Perez and Ocon in 2017 is a prime example of what you wouldn't want to see as a team manager.

But then don´t tell the world all the time how you let your drivers race each others for the sake of the sports... If you need a butler take him and shut up....
And it should be obvious by now that Bottas is nothing but a No.2 so please LH44-fanboys spare us the drivel how poor Lewis never had the comfort of a No.2 driver as we were told all those years!!!
Nothing against having a No.2 but be then be at least honest about it....

They do not need a young driver program, the entire grid would be thrilled to drive for the only team that can win the championship.

Mercedes are better by far at 'letting them race' than Ferrari ever are in general. Ask Charles yes??? Its not about LH44 fans. Its about the right decision for the team. Nothing else. Ferrari could learn a bit from Mercedes in many areas including driver management currently. I expect better from Ferrari and do not see it.
