That's a joke. Maranello Classic Parts lists an alternative part Re Change Notice 102. Standard copper washer. Pretty common sense change. Why anyone would use anything else is a mystery to me. https://www.ferrariparts.co.uk/part/ferrari/144485?id=42370 I never knew there was an actual change notice, but have always used copper washers.

+1 I still use copper washers. I buy them from Aircraft Spruce. If it leaks I'll change. Until then, no.
I use royal purple in mine too. However, I just came back from Europe and I found some Eni Rotra LSX 75W-90 which is on the way. I will see if there is any difference in cold shift quality with the oem oil in the gearbox.
When I 1st got the car, I asked the mechanic to change the trans fluid not knowing it's condition. I saw him fight trying to get the hex screw out. I suspect there wasn't a washer/gasket at that time which is what made it so difficult and he didn't put one on. oops. Car went through a major & no mention was made. I just changed the fluid today and tried to remove the plug before draining the oil - It was a battle. But today I noticed it still had no gasket/washer. I'm blaming missing gasket for hard-to-remove & will put one on this time. Copper. Somebody have the ID & OD? Same as the oil?
Ferrari is using a lot of aluminum banjo fittings and banjo bolts and their torque spec makes copper rings a little unreliable. They went to Dowty rings on them and have superseded earlier copper rings of the same size to Dowty rings. Buying any of that class of part from Ferrari is just crazy. Despite the requirement to do so I have never worked in a dealer who bought that kind of stuff from Ferrari either. The copper 22 x 29 is about 50 cents.
I finally just just got a 5 gal pale of Shell Spirax S5, I'm using Amsoil now and it does not work that well. Its a 348 but same difference.
You can find it online, California, New York etc, find one close to you to reduce shipping cost. I "think" Spirax S5 is the ONLY Ferrari approved gearbox oil, Porsche too but they re-brand it as far as I can tell. The Amsoil may work well in a Munci 4 sped but in a transaxle its not working so well, I have a case of redline sitting on the shelf but I decided to go with the mfg recommendation. Ohh there is definitely something to that no doubt about that ha ha! That said, there are many posts in threads easily missed that attest to how much better the gear box is with it. Who knows....
