Daddy has partners , if son’s performance or lacktherof affects the bottom line , he will come under pressure . We will find out soon enough . This should be a no brainer , money vs ego
Then back to Williams? Unfortunately, someone else's daddy has more money, and the other driver can out drive him.
Best thing he could do is go work in one of daddies stores; maybe an outlet store where the staff aren’t expected to do customer service! Wonder if he could sell jeans?
Lololol To be fair I thought Lance was very unlucky. Yes he did rejoin the track in a 'dangerous' manner, but it wasn't his fault he went off track in the first place.
Lance got a great start, and was running along quite nicely in 7th before Boy Blunder did one of his many party tricks. Yeh Lance isn't Senna ,neither is Vettel.
Well, this is a banter thread. What would you expect? People considering him same level as the truly impressive new generation?
It is an ironic ‘funny’ confirming that this thread is by no means impartial but rather a place for experts to bash on the kid. Have at it we’re all children here
Or maybe I am wrong, is not a banter thread, but it is a thread where positive and negative opinions are allowed, and the fact that no one came to praise him being on Q3 is just reflecting the lack of sympathy towards STR
I suggested in post 2931 the possibility of both Racing Points making it into Q3. Lance seems to shine at Monza, he likes the sustained high speed. I think that he is a competent driver but not a great racer; he seems to gain positions at the start and through attrition. Having said that Vettel thoroughly screwed his race, he was headed for some solid points.
Peep Translation: I probably would have commented but the Q3 endgame debacle rather overshadowed the Stroller's achievement. For multiple reasons, I am bummed Seb got in his way and hurt his race. Also, I'm trying to recall, if Max had run in Q1 would he have likely knocked Stroll out of Q2?
He was having a good weekend and minding his own business , Seb ruined his race . We can cut him some slack . Even the penalty he was given was unfair, he was caught between a rock and a hard place , they had to penalize him to justify Seb's penalty , which btw was deserved, and not make it look like they are picking on Ferrari only.
I missed that with all the shenanigans of Q3. Yes, that was an achievement for Lance, and his personal best so far. I am sure that Lance can still improve, but it will be very slow progress.
The guy could get pole next week; win every race in the calendar, be world champion. It still would not make up for the fact that he is a complete Brat! Just compare his attitude at Williams to that of Russel and Kubica. Stroll could write a book and get a phd in how to throw your team under the bus! He is taking a seat from somebody who actually deserves it.
Lance Stroll doesn't bother me at all. He is fine to me; not a very good driver, but he paid his due to be in F1.
He fulfilled all the requirements to obtain a Superlicence to qualify for F1. Then he had a sponsor who paid for his seat, something quite common in F1.
