Funny not a peep in this thread when Lance beat Grosjean and the Williams. Wonderful job, top of the line race craft
The fact is . . . . he's not too far off Perez's pace. It's also too bad Vettel screwed up his race in Monza.
The fact is also that Perez constantly out qualifies Stroll. Apart from the german chaos, Stroll is not delivering.
Uhmmmm . . . . I'm pretty sure he has. He managed to get him into the Ferrari Driver Academy at 10 years old.
I'm not a F1 manager who has a son as a driver, so doesn't matter my opinion. But I guess Hulkenberg would be a nice replacement.
Yes, but it was a though choice between the Ferrari Academy or the Music Academy. By now Lance could be a concert pianist !
That's one way of looking at it, of course. But I don't think Lawrence Stroll went to the expense of buying himself a team so that his son could have a drive, only to sack him after a couple of years.
Honestly I wonder if getting Lance a drive was the #1 factor for going into F1, or if there are more factors involved. Anyway if that's the case I'd recommend cautious expectations...
As far as I can understand, Lawrence Stroll is driving by proxy; Lance don't really seem interested. Joke apart, buying Force India with his business mates was maybe Stroll Sr's idea of an Investment, who knows ? I bet Eddie Jordan is glad to have sold the team years ago.
He is now on the plateau of F1 for a driver. There is not much more to learn or gain to refine his talent. What is being seen is all that is available.
Yes, but he can stay in F1 for many years like that. Let's be fair, his personality is what grates people; but there has been mediocre drivers like him in F1 for many years. Personally, I don't find him that terrible: he get a few points here and there.
Bloody hell, we agree on something Being UK based you’ll get the shampoo add reference to an “annoying personality vacuum!” Always reminds me of stroll! It will be interesting to see if he is driving next year or the year after. He is doing the team out of a lot of points at the moment, and we know points equals money!! If he is taking the same attitude he did at Williams I doubt he is helping develop the car much, and that is what they need right now or they will continue to slide backwards as mclaren et al go forward.
I do agree that my pet peeve against Stroll is a lot due to his personality. There are other mediocre drivers, yes, but they're way more likeable.
Is there any video Stroll hitting the wall today. Paul di Resta made it sound pretty questionable during the race broadcast... That said... it's Grosjean that I don't understand being in F1. He needs to do a guest spot in one of the "Mayhem" insurance adverts...
