Here (328) I like the front red bumper and the rear red bumper even more. But the design changed too.

    Ciao

This small press image for the 288 GTO has one other curious detail that was not chosen for the regular production version. There is a fine horizontal yellow stripe down the belt line of the car from the front to the back.

That 288 GTO color stripe along the belt line perhaps influenced the modifications on this 288 GTO as seen in a 2016 JBrooks image >

On this thread's previous page, Rossocorsa1 had posted several 288 detail shots from Casa Ferrari Pebble Beach 2017.
I was just looking at them now and noticed something I don't believe I have ever seen before and no one else here commented regarding it.
The rear bumpers on the car in question have a "step" to them or appear to be a 2 piece construction?
Does anyone have some insight into this? I would appreciate any information.
Could this be remnants from the gray market federalization process coming into the US?

This is the standard factory bumper.

The Amerispec USA bumper was without the bevelled edge.

I get what you are saying Joe. The factory bumper has a beveled edge all around the rear face of it.
This, however, is an entirely different animal all together ( a third kind if you will).
I have never seen one like it before.
It almost looks like the lower half is a trough and the actual bumper is sitting inside of it.

Optical illusion because of the white floor reflecting upwards I think.

The 288 GTO's rear bumpers are characterized by their bevelled edges (below), the DOT items created by Amerispec lack this characteristic

No bad angle on that car, and not a better one than that one - nice shot.

If this is recent then this is one of just a few remaining GTOs which has still not had period USA DOT alterations reversed.
