And this is why you never buy a car for an investment. All the people on here that thought that’s what this is will be riding the wave down. This never was an investment. If they go up you are lucky. This is a good lesson to learn here.

Thats not really accurate- all depends when and how you buy them. Stocks and real estate go down 50 percent to 80 percent too.

Yes if you bought a long time ago you made a little money especially if you sold at the top. My point is your never going to make good money on these cars as an investment
No one is making good money consistently buying trs,512s,308 etc. if you made a little because you bought the car at the right time that’s great. But for most that won’t be the case. I’ll stick with real investments that make real money consistently. Not the hope and pray schemes. Generally that’s what this is. Everyone’s definition of what an investment differs. If I would have started out in life investing most of my money if old Ferrari’s there’s no way I could retire off of that after 10 years of buying and ownership. Also no residual income just maintenance costs. The more of these cars that I have the more it will cost me. Heaven forbid I do the engine outs every 3-5 years would go broke on that plan

This is so true! In fact when you factor in the major services, the ratio of value really goes down..add miles....pay someone to tow your Ferrari away ;) lol

I accept that these cars are just toys and they return very little value....but still, it's a Ferrari. You're supposed to not lose more than a Honda lol

Funny. People outside of the Ferrari community are "Wow!! That's a Testarossa". Inside the community, you almost have to appologize for having a TR.

I would dispute that : 288,3X8,355,tr they all have the big bills.
I think that the TR though loved as just an unfair rep: maintenance (really not that bad), ostentatious looking, drives like a pig, heavy steering, heavy clutch etc
For US it doesn’t matter but most don’t have that patience ; look at Parnelli : loves the TR, looked for one for years( got 1 and within a month got rid of it bc of practability.
I’d say the TR is a 3rd car after ur daily, ur sports car (maybe a 430) and then all of a sudden this happens: first time Ferrari buyer; u wanna drive it with no fear so people go 360/430 etc...
Lastly I used to get lots of attention ; Regardless of the crowd for the car so, my bet is for the tr to appreciate down the line...

And fwiw for u guys who say they arent investments- i think its an amazing market to trade - good amount of price volatility with ability to get edge idiosyncratically by car and systematically by market or segment. No clearing house so very few liquidity providers - its a great market to make money in if you can deploy capital as you like and not be forced to transact all the time. Now whether or not people can do it and do it well, different question. But looking at high end cars as a market - i salivate.

288 reached icon level so need to set that aside. Countach def gets more love than ferrari from 80s and early 90s.

I will give u the one reason, looks aside, why the TR will appreciate one day: that flat 12 sound is amazing.
Additionally Last mass produced rear /mid engine f car under Enzo and I’d argue to date (f50,laf,Enzo special edition), manual... I’d not panick and wait a few years if profit is my goal;)
