It's a damn good collection, but I wouldn't call it the best. There are a few that are far more significant.
It's a fantastic collection. Not many can say they have a 275, 288, Enzo, LaFerrari, LaFerrari Aperta and others. Not diminishing it at all. Just, amazingly, there are a few collections that actually far surpass it.
Never did understand why people love to vilify vloggers like Shmee. I'm guessing it's just fashionable to rail about some. He seems like a pretty passionate and likeable guy to me. Truth is, through his (and others) videos, we get to go to places, events and see collections and cars that few could ever dream of. Not sure what's so bad about that.
With all due respect there are many in North America that far surpass it--Jon Shirley, Lawrence Stroll, Tony Wang, Chris Cox, David MacNeil, duPont, Rare Wheels, Rob Walton, Brian Ross, the McCaw brothers to name but a few.
The Best Ferrari Collection ever would have to have been Mas Du Clos. I must've read the Cavallino article (No.50) dozens of times as a teenager, it came out not long after I discovered Ferrari. LaFerraris and Enzos are great, but Mas Du Clos was the stuff of dreams...a pair of 250 GTOs (series I and II), a 335 Sport, 410 Sport, 250 TR and TR/59, 330 P4, 375 Plus in addition to dozens of other historically important Ferraris, never mind the private race track to drive them. Don't see how any collection could match it, and can't imagine any one person could amass a similarly significant collection again.
Too much Smee today. I could only take 3:07 in the C8 convertible thread. This is SmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeK......
The thread title immediately made me think of the Pierre Bardinon collection. Shame it was broken up. Tax man makes things hard to keep once the owner passes. Ian's collection is nice. I would love to see the others. Doesn't he have a 250 Cali? The garage layout is interesting. I didn't think it looked like that from the outside. It looks like he knocked down a wall and extended it into what was the interior of the house as the lake in the back is visible. The front of the house is a layout where the garages are on both sides facing one another.
Dr. Richard Workman, with his recent acquisition of a 250 GTO, now has one of the finest collections in the world. He also has all the super cars, a NART Spyder and 250 GTO, a Mclaren F1 and many many others. Ralph Lauren also has one of the best, if not the best collections in the world. That said, I have not heard what he currently owns for many years.
It's that disingenuous smile that says, "I'm very happy, but my heart is ultimately unsatisfied as I am a slave to my subscribers"
I watched this yesterday. Concur that Shmee is supremely irritating but a great insight into Ian Poulter and some truly bespoke cars. His Lusso and the LaFerraris are superb.
The best collections are the stealthy ones where there is little to no advertisement. The title alone would surely state Ferrari S.p.A. would have the best Ferrari collection.
