    Hi all,

So after a decade of porsches I'm about to plunge into the F car world....and boy am I excited. I absolutely love the 458 Italia....with its modern look and the last NA V8 engine.

So as I start my search, the question I have for all of you is regarding miles vs. Model year. Say a car is same price and has all maintenance records, passes PPI, etc., but one is 2010 with 10k miles and the other is 2013 with 25k miles?

Would love advice from the experienced guys here.

    Thanks

Yeah, many people, including my mechanic have talked me out of the '10 & '11 market.

I would do the later model year as they always make running improvements and while the 2010 and 11 do have some pops and bangs in the exhaust from new, I found the transmission shifting software in these models made shifts undramatic and kind of dull relative to the 2012+. If you want to pops and bangs etc you can always fit an exhaust, of which there are several great choices.

Rasa, personally I would go for the 2013. As someone mentioned all “bugs” if any were corrected by then. Having said that the 458 has proved itself t be extremely reliable. The 458 is an amazing car. I’m on my 2nd one and the excitement of driving one never dies down. Good luck!

get the car with lower miles - alot of the updates people refer to are software updates which the older cars get. The famous update in 2012 impacted the way the 10s and 11 s sounded. as far as ferrari updating stuff wrt to mechanicals, i think we are kidding ourselves. lusso's have the same ptu risk that FFs have, and that's an actual design flaw. Ferrari might change suppliers etc but that doesn't necessarily mean it's for the better, if anything its prob due to price. if a 2010 is better color and cleaner i wldnt avoid it by any means. going for the 2013 for the sake of the year cld totally be the wrong bet. I personally have owned 2 458s, both 2010s and no issues.

Why not a 2013 with 10k miles? Tons of cars for sale. These aren’t rare by any means.

I bought a 2013 with 9000 miles. CPO. No regrets.
