“Only a fool would believe cutting a piece from a blanket and sewing it on the other end could make the blanket longer...” No shortage of sunshine up here - you poor buggas gotta do what you can with what you’ve got.
Queensland should just get on with it and have daylight saving like the rest of us. Whenever I’m up there in summer it amazes me that the bloody sun comes up at about 4.30am and goes down ridiculously early. What’s the point of that? Nothing better than a lovely summer evening with plenty of daylight until 8.30pm. You’d think Old Joh was still in charge the way some people are up there.
They can’t do it....The cows recon the farmers get confused and they don’t know what time to take a ****......
Have a talk to the Papster and see what he reckons out far western Qld.,with bloody DS it'd still be light at 10pm,really terrific for families with toddlers (that's where yer faded curtains come from).. Wait until you have offspring, you'll want it as dark as it can get as early as you can get!! At the height of the Wet (summer for poor southerners)here, it's still light at 730/8pm.
I just picked a date at random - December 1st this year. Official sunrise in Brisbane is 4.44am (meaning it's getting light a lot earlier than that), and sunset is 6.28pm. How idiotic is that? In Radelaide on the same day sunrise is 5.55am and sunset 8.13pm. Perfect! If I was dealing with toddlers I'd rather struggle a bit to get them to bed while it's still light that be woken by them at 4am!
Eggzackery.............I'll bet all around the Arctic circle countries they'd have leadlined curtains!
Never ceases to amaze me how worked up some people get over an abstract concept like time. We’re the only species that cares about it. All other animals seem to get on fine with their lives regardless of what the clock on the wall says
I fancy a drive to Exmouth WA in 2023, we’ll be there for 10.15 am on the 20th April where we will witness a solar eclipse, all welcome [emoji4] (bucket list tick) Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app

You're going to be awake at the same time - just the clock will look different! Problem here (and really anywhere in Australia) is that we don't have the long twilight that makes daylight saving work in Europe. Since the restaurants take last orders at 8pm in most places, you'd end up eating dinner in broad daylight here! It's bad enough even in Tassie, not to mention annoying in Syd and Mel... Daylight saving would actually make more sense in WINTER here if I didn't have to be at work by 8am on Tuesdays! Longest day is around Jan 3 so the sunset time is around 6:50 - perfect for going out to dinner!
And children and many people who live in nature do - which just shows the stupidity of 'daylight saving'!
