Feeling melancholic today so I brought out the first watch of any value I ever bought. It was back around 1990 or 91, I had finally managed to save a little bit of money, walked into some mall AD in Tysons 2 and bought it on the spot. Went home and threw away all the packaging and paperwork as if it was a pair of shoes. Had it serviced and polished (which I now regret) a few years ago and it still works like new. Still love how it looks.
Someone had a pretty nice Christmas in 1964. This was sold 2 weeks before Christmas in the main store on 5th Ave in New York. Solid 14kt gold. I have the original signed strap tucked away in the safe. It was advertised as having the thinnest watch movement in the world at that time. It’s either 3.1mm or 3.4mm; I can’t remember right now. .
