What does heart pounding have to do with the engine vibrating at idle? We all wax lyrical over the sound of a super car. It's not simply a reaction of our reptilian brains being stimulated by loud noises or vibrations. We are gaining a more thorough comprehension of the engine's character and quality in addition to a visceral response felt to one's core.
Only based on my initial impression, I prefer the 458 sound to the Pista. And this is simply my being stuck on a particular thing. I try to be open minded, but I am not always open minded and if you ask me what sounds better- then my vote goes to the 458. Styling is a toss up. The 458 is cleaner more pure looking, very pretty. The Pista is tougher and more aggressive looking. I think its gorgeous, but I also think the 458 is gorgeous. Yet, after spending hours pouring over the Pista, coming back to my 458, I am hating saying this- it looked a little bit old. First time this has happened to me. Someone might still prefer the 458 over the Pista or anything else, we are all different, but I think this Pista is really something special- or should I say speciale I think I was just trying to guess on what gets your heart pounding. For me, with cars, my heart rate will go up when I anticipate something wonderful- but once on the go, as long as its a good car, I tend to be pretty calm. You will definitely feel connected in the Pista- but- if you equate screaming NA flat plane V8 with connected then its just not going to do it. Instead, be open to what the Pista offers, I think anyone lucky enough to get seat time will love it. I think its a monumental car.
Ive been driving the Pista more and more and Im changing my mind on the sound. It sounds great! Its just different. Its granular and the texture of the sound changes with RPMs. I'm really enjoying this car!
I've put on a few more miles as well and the car is a blast to drive. The sound is OK, I wouldn't say great at least from the inside. I bet it sounds much better from the outside. Just like with the 720's I dont think it suits this car to have super aggressive sound like the Perf or Evo (which I love). With this said I might consider upgrading the exhaust if there was something that would offer enough of a difference without hindering the dynamics of the car.
Why would sounding more like a track car not suit the Pista? My Italian is not so great but thinking they named it Pista for a reason.
I am also told there will be a VS, I am also told F8 will be normal 4 year production run as orders are still being taken for delivery far into the future, I queried and asked if orders are still being taken so they are all shipped out around the same time for a 2 year run but, told no. My source is not bullet proof but in the know. Do we have a viable source confirming F8 is definitely a 2 year run? Sent from my CLT-L09 using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I was thinking the exact same thing, I would expect the v8 from the SF90 in there Sent from my CLT-L09 using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Where? to the best of my knowledge the warranty is not voided if you track your road Ferrari (at least in France) - racing would be a different matter, of course.
In the package you receive with your car. It has to be a Ferrari organized event or no warranty. Also, over heat your carbon wheels and no warranty.
I think all these rumors (they are making X or not making Y) are difficult to figure out because I think they must be investigating so many different possibilities- whether or not they make production is not the same as just looking into it. As to the Pista sound, I drove it 100 miles yesterday and I think it sounds great, windows open or closed. I need to get past the break in, but so far... wow wow wow, I am really loving it!
They dropped the F8 on top of the 488, so no surprise if the Pista gets crushed too. Ferrari will not care if they pista off their customers, just show them the money.
Better to stay with the 488 GTE or an Evo version for the moment and put the development effort into the SF90 for the new WEC Hypercar category. Also no new F8 Challenge car, instead an Evo version of the current 488.
Correct and as the F8 is a rebodied 488, a homologation doesnt make any sense... the 488 GT3/GTE still has a lot of unreleased potential. 488 Challenge EVO and GT3 Evo2 will debute next week.
So is there a consensus, will there be a F8 VS, have heard yes but its not the most reliable source Sent from my CLT-L09 using FerrariChat.com mobile app
