It’s all a personal choice, but for me the indentation in the 6 o’clock chapter ring isn’t disruptive to the aesthetics. Of course I own a 5270 with the chin too, and not being off put by it I actually believe there’s unique value in these dial variations. I also don’t see the 5 and 27 as all that impactful. My preference would have been uniform sized numbers but it’s not dramatic. Ultimately the modern size, functions, and pusher through the crown supersede any misgivings about the dial nuances.

Lovely. So I passed on a 5990 last year at list price because my AD refused to honor the $5k discount they had agreed when I ordered it - not one of my brighter decisions

I have been offered a 5524R at a local AD. Interesting piece, going by to look at it again today. Thoughts?

I think it’s amazing. Super chick. Not one to pay list for though which is around $50k. Our friends at watchbox have one that can probably be bought for low 40s.

There is a cool article in this months watch time magazine on the 5524r

Just got the lighter grey dial version with blue alligator band though I wish it was a deployment buckle and not the tang.

...but that deployment buckle Calatrava is really big, i’ll bet it rubs on surfaces.
    Congrats btw!
I’m waiting on blue alligator band to go with blue dial.

To each their own but I've not encountered any issues with the deployment band on a 5960R. I'm happy to wear any PP on any band! Cheers!

Haven't pulled the trigger yet but probably will this weekend. Praying for a Naulitus to come on by surprise. Amazing how difficult these are to find at ADs now. Three years ago they were easily to find

I’d take an aquanaut at this point, but none in sight

Well there are a couple new on Chrono24 but closer to $40k than $20k...

I really liked the Pilot Travel Time. While I'm not a big gold fan, the brown dial and gold version was very good looking in person, a lot of depth to the color. Darth mentioned it could use a more exciting texture on the strap which I agree with.

I love this one. If they ever do a blue/orange colorway, with navy and orange hands/markers (or a Gulf blue w/orange), I'm going to have to tell a kid that it has been nice to have them around but we need to cut expenses to make room!

Yeah they’re out there, but paying msrp is about as close as I’ll get

I've posted a few times here about my interest in Patek, as early as 2003 said I wanted a Calatrava. It's been a long road, but with my 40th I wanted a personal landmark.

Deep thanks to my brother Darth and his wife for helping me track down this NIB 5196g to my desk within 48 hours!
