Not saying I disagree with your assessment, just commenting that I have met female mechanics.

Lol not too expensive. The Ferrari engine bolted right up to the Fiero's transmission! :)

intense questioning with her tied to a bed, under hot lamps, and a feather duster may be in order. If you don’t want to do it, I’ll help out!

My sister did a light shift at Starbucks as a second job. She didn't need the money, she just kind of liked slinging coffee and chatting up the customers. It was just something that she liked doing for the heck of it. Kept her busy and not bored. She also was a rainmaker during her day job. So everything ain't quite like it seems...

Regarding the girl mechanic. Maybe she didn't work on 458s but again, don't judge a book by the cover. I met a co-worker's girlfriend who had a built Mustang. And I mean built. Supercharged, basic ground pounding, street racer with lots of go fast parts. They were new in town and she was looking around for work. Drove her car to a prospective shop for an interview. They were thinking it was maybe the boyfriend's car and asked her what did she know about mechanic-ing. She opened the hood, let them take a peek and explained that she had built the entire motor and spec'd all the bits and pieces. Got hired on the spot.

Steal away, Clyde. One of my old English teachers from fifty five years ago had a pocketful of them and that was one of his. Probably not original even then.

Nah. That was only for the first year or so. Now most authorized Ferrari dealers can fix them.

Challenge her. She might know more about the technical aspects of your car than you;)

Uhm, this might be a silly question, but what the heck is a "rainmaker"? I know it might seem like a true display of brilliant ignorance, but I'd love to know what I don't.:)

She is 3.5 hours from a Ferrari dealer. Maybe she used to live in Denver or a larger city. The two most upscale dealers in the valley that has a service department is Audi and Land Rover. And I doubt if they do transmission work on site.

In these parts, and in business parlance, a "rainmaker" is someone who brings in lots of business, and therefor, dough $$$$. A money-maker.

From someone who heard that I have a new Ferrari: "I read that tires for Ferraris cost $100,000 for a set."

That is for tires not inflated with Italian air. With Italian air a set is $120k.

I think I found the inspiration for that comment: An eBay ad for a set of slightly used wheels and tires for a Bugatti Veyron for $100,000 (which is $50,000 less than the cost new). Bugatti,Ferrari,Lamborghini,cannelloni--all the same to the non-enthusiast.

One guy in a parking lot curiously asked me if I played polo (I was wearing an outlet mall Ralph Lauren polo tshirt while getting into my car). I guess he thought that’s what Ferrari owners do in their spare time.

Someone asked from a distance if my Mondial was a real Porsche, or one that they made after Ford bought them. There was so much wrong with the statement that I really wasn't sure where to start. When I told him it was a Ferrari, he casually said it was hard to tell since both cars had a horse on their badge...

Agree. When somebody says something like that with so many inaccuracies, I simply stand there like an idiot, too dumbfounded to know where to begin!
