I’m officially not pissed at the Bruins anymore. I took my daughter to the game last night, and watched the B's pound the Sharks, which would have normally been a good night all by itself. But, we amazingly won the 50/50 raffle at the arena too! It was the Hockey Fights Cancer night, so they automatically funded the raffle with $100,000! Spending $20 on tickets for a good cause and going home with $50k is not a bad way to spend a Tuesday night. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks, guys. It's crazy. I still can't believe I won. It was pretty exciting. The funny part is my daughter will NEVER leave a game even one minute early. B's can be down by six goals and she wants to stay until the horn sounds, instead of trying to beat the traffic. Tuesday night she wanted to head down to customer service right after they announced the winning numbers, with about 9-10 minutes left in the 3rd. I think she thought there was going to be a pile of cash waiting for us. (There wasn't. You get a check a couple weeks later.)
Safer to send you a cheque then to give you $50k in cash on the spot - you'd need to hire security to get home safely
You think you need security from the Garden with a measly $50k in your pocket? Try wearing a Flyers sweater to a game.
And I bet that the check won't be for the entire $50k, since they will probably withhold federal income taxes on it.
From a friend today. Q: Why doesn't Harrisburg have an NHL team? A: Because then Philly would want one, too.
The Buffalo Sabres are currently tied for the second best record in the league. Does anyone think they will be good enough to make the playoffs, or are they a "flash in the pan"?
It's always good to get an early great start, however it is a LONG season and a lot can happen (just ask any Leafs' fan)
I DO think the Sabres will make the playoffs. Bit of a surprise to me. I know who won't make the playoffs. My beloved Detroit Red Wings. Gawd they are awful right now. "Dead things" again (what they were nicknamed in late 80's/early 90's around these parts).
That is awesome. I have always thought Babcock was WAAAYYY over-rated, and it is showing that he is now that he is coaching the Leafs. He won a Stanley Cup with Scotty Bowman's players, and he won the Gold Medal with the best players in the world - anyone with a pulse could have coached Sidney Crosby et al to a championship with their eyes closed.
Babs - highest paid coach in the NHL. sidebar........... at the gym one afternoon, I had already observed his brand new shiny white F150 Platinum parked outside. I wanted to ask him something different. You know, not hockey related. So I said "Hey Coach, do you know every pothole in the 401 'tween here and Trawna?" He chuckled, said "yea, pretty much."
Meanwhile Canes lose successive games to Jersey, Flyers,, Rangers. They outshot NY last night about 80-2 and still lost.
