    The most associated term with any Corvette... "bang for the buck" - so the frenzy is really due to its affordability. Hard to get the masses to go nuts over a car they'll probably never see on the road, almost certainly will never be a passenger in, virtually zero chance they'll drive, and about the same chance of owning as winning the lottery - because they'll need the lottery to be able to buy it.

    Most of these same people would go nuts over it if they saw it driving down the street, and will almost drive in to you to try to take a pic with their phone, but there isn't going to be anywhere near the same amount of buzz around any super/hypercar as there would be around a sports car that most people could see themselves buying in their lifetime. Funnily, I think what really gets them excited is the prospect of depreciation - because it will be pretty darn cheap used!

    Don't agree. If you don't like someones post, ignore it or put him on your "ignore" list. Censorship is a slippery slope. It always seems fine...until you are the one that is censored. All opinions welcome, even the rather tedious ones.

    Look at RACE nyse. Ferrari cant build enough soon enough.

    I waited also but had a slightly different observation. It’s spectacular looking, inside and out!! I immediately placed an order with a deposit, after seeing it in the flesh. In the garage hopefully in a year or so...

    I saw the SF90 last weekend. The yellow one. Initially I do not like the looks of the car, especially the rear . I think the Pista is a far more attractive car..by far.

    I would definitely take pista or speciale over sf90. I don't see how batteries will work on track and who needs 1000 hp if cant even track it

    and I think the open top versions of scud, spec, pista might end up being more valuable in the very long run too

    Why do you say that? The top echelons of track racing utilise hybrid race cars (F1, LMP1), not to mention the dedicated hybrid track monsters (FXX-K, P1 GTR).

    Same here. It depends on track layout but I bet most track will be covered by fully charged battery.
    Also, about 1000 hp, tire can only take up mere 650-700 hp. So to put 1000 being utilized, front wheel will do the work too.
    I think Ferrari uses Bosh brake regen since they talk the same word "brake blending"
    Bosh explains system will determines the duration of brake regen before actually applying brake pad to rotor by brake pedal pressure, so I bet brake regen will be really short compared to when on the road.
    So it will be a matter of number of laps and track layout before battery is depleted.

    are the racing hybrids and sf90 same? not sure but i think racing uses flywheel or krs or something like that while sf90 will use batteries. im not worried about depleting batteries during lapping but the overheating that might occur and the long term abuse requiring battery replacement. that will prob cost 6 figures $ which racing teams dont care about. havent heard of anyone continually tracking laf, 918, or p1 to know what to expect but i would be skeptical.

    Excessive heat will threaten the battery life for sure. BMS will control some of it with software and package cooling but the natural heat generated during driving on track inside battery packaging as well as the battery housing should be dealt with extensive cooling lap.
    There should be a guide on how to lap SF90 in the manual. So, you are right about worrying driving SF90 on track.

    Pretty sure an SF90 is able, lap after lap, to be consistently faster than an F8 in the right mode.

    Too bad the weak, puny YASA electric motors Ferrari chose for the front wheels turn to deadweight after 130mph, makes tracking the car decidedly unlike the others you mention (yes, apparently the 3rd motor at the engine itself continues to assist like the LaF regardless of speed and, I think all those cars mentioned above use the same idea, only assist in turning the engine, no electric motors at the wheels...quite a significant difference)

    And, I'll add relevant consideration...apparently the SF90 drivetrain is intended for the FUV, so is a "test bed" of sorts. Granted, the FUV will likely do with a bit less overall power, but the idea the same, electric drive up front, hybrid for the rear wheels. Ferrari really needs to do the FUV right if they start putting V6s out and deconstructing their IC engines, the FUV will be their most successful model in 5 years or less...

    Nope, the basic principle is the same. Almost all of the race cars use batteries (1-2 experimented with a flywheel but have since abandoned the concept). The old F1 KERS itself was powered by batteries.


    They are designed for these kinds of things. Can they fail? Of course, anything can fail. Are they susceptible to failure when tracked? There is no evidence indicating such a thing.


    True, that's why they don't even quote a 0-300 kph time, as it will be significantly slower than the LaFerrari's. On the other hand, on most tracks the majority of the lap is driven below 130 mph.
