Lake Forest Ferrari kindly invited several folks to come drive a F8. I was actually blown away with how fast it is. In seconds it's a neck bending stomach churning launch that unfortunately leaves my 458 spider feeling like a salt box derby car vs an F1 car. The interior refresh is nice updated without feeling foreign and I personally love the back returning to more iconic 4 round lights whose rings glow in the evening light. Gauges are easy to read shifting is flawless and I found the steering noticeably tighter.
The demo was fitted with racing seats which I found my banker body fit into snugly but comfortably enough to want to consider those myself. Had a nice run brought about by blasting past Lake Forest PD so fast they could turn around in time and we took an alternate route back to avoid aggravating the locals. It was intoxicatingly fast. I frankly missed a bit of the 458's sound scream but the notes in race were not bad. My next car is a V-12 and I am on the hunt... but this car is enough to move me into considering upgrading after all we are moving toward electrification and hybrids this might be our last mid engine 8 cylinder gas engine Ferrari. Special thanks to Lake Forest and their team for the great work experience. Image Unavailable, Please Login

It is an incredible car and I felt the same way compared to my 458 it’s a rocket ship.

I should drive one next week - I wonder how it will compare with the 488, which is in-between the 458 and F8 in terms of performance; it's no surprise the F8 is a lot faster than a 458 but a 488 is already faster than the 458 so I'm curious to see how the F8-488 gap compares with the 488-458 gap.

Thank you for your comments! I get to drive one in a week. Your 'sound' comments are relaxing my fears of being totally disappointed with the F8.

On cold startup I could hear it from inside the dealership but as they drove off it was silent. Mind you they were putting along.

Not for me. The 720S is not what I was looking for and there are now 5 available on Canada with less than 3000 miles for sale for $299 k CAD which is $225K USD. Still not interested.

If the F8 is less compelling and thrilling to drive than the 720S, I will consider it to be a monumental failure. Anyone who concurs with that assessment should snap up a lightly used 720s for half the asking price of an F8.

Even after owning the Pista, it seems that Gh wishes he had his 720s Spider back.

I’m sure the 720 is a great car, just don’t care for Mac styling or interiors.

Lol. Can we spend 30 pages fighting it out on whether the 720 is better or the F8 is better? ha! love it.

For the record, I would hope that the F8, a 3 year newer car, is better. I have no doubt the f8 is spectacular. Looking forward to driving one.

In what way is it better? I think the drive of it. My 720 was faster, more nimble, more powerful than my 488. In every metric I enjoyed the 720 more which is saying a lot cause I thought the 488 was brilliant.

But F8 is a newer car, newer technology and they have had time to study their competitors so I would assume the F8 is brilliant. I have no reason to doubt that it is.

I’m never getting one as I’ll have my Pista so no reason to get the F8 so I can only pontificate on its brilliance.

I drove a Lamo at a track in Vegas. They had a lot of great cars, including Ferraris. I tried the Lambo because I own a Ferrari. I noticed that they had a lot of different cars but no McLarens. I asked why and they said because they are just not workhorses and are in the shop too often, so they don't buy them anymore. They said Ferrari and Lambo are true race cars that can stand up to daily track use. Thought it was interesting.
