The 12 year old in me loves these crazy Lambos.

 

It is so far past the line - I think I love it - reminds me of a car speed racer would race against.

well i am not normally an early adopter, so this is a departure for me.
but here is my reasoning:
- i sincerely doubt that the present design will make it to production. the angles and corners are so sharp that i cannot believe the DOT will allow it to pass the pedestrian tests etc. so the design will actually improve, and more people will want it.
- if more people want it, the line will get longer. i am far enough in now that the kinks might be worked out by the time i get one, but the total line might be at 1 million plus at that point, which means that some fanboy may pay me for my place in line.
- i ordered the big kahuna ; 3 motors + autopilot. all the options. and they tell you that this model will not be available until late 2022....which likely means 2023. that gives me a lot of time to think about it.
- its $100 and it is refundable. ie, there is no risk. it is basically a free option.

to be clear, if it were available right now and i had to come up with a check and drive it home, i would not buy it.

 

Will look good sitting next to (towering over) the Karma........

 

i very much doubt i will actually ever own one.

Even if they tone it down for regular production, it's still too funky for me, and the wait would be too long. So I went back to my SuperCab Raptor idea - I've been looking for one for over a year - and wouldn't you know it? The one I've been waiting for magically appeared. It's a 2018 with 2,700 miles on it, and it's Race Red! The only Race Red Raptor I've seen in over a year of looking, and it has the smaller cab/short wheelbase. Couldn't believe my luck. The old guy who bought it had a medical issue and lost his DL, so it's basically a new truck for thousands off. They were in a rush to sell it to cover his overhead, and it has a bunch of graphics on it that made it tough to move. I'll just have my body shop remove them. It's very close to Rosso Corsa.

Between the trade in value of my Highlander and the cash I had on hand, I got the loan down to an even $40K, which is pretty fantastic. I'm driving up to Kentucky on Monday to pick it up and drive it home. Pretty psyched! Oh, and it has a paddle shift manual setting. Ten speeds, so a lot of shifting! LOL!

 

The black hood graphics IMHO look good to me and compliment the grill. But all the side stuff needs to go.

 

Love the wide white walls and Mr. Mitchell's shoes!

In the continuing vein of matching attire with car colors, wonder if Mr. Mitchell ever posed with a yellow car?

Saw this in person at Lake Forest Sportscars near Chicago. Looks very pretty in black(or any color for that matter). The Roma also looks great. After the Portofino, ugly from every angle IMO, I was starting to loose faith in the Italians. They are now back with a vengeance!!!

I certainly can't criticize WM's choices; he consciously created a visual 'brand' for himself, well before anyone else in industry even thought of it! I'd say compare him with anyone in that position today........but you can't; "another era"....Reminds me of a post in one of the Silver threads, contrasting ?Cary Grant? with a pic of male models today.....
