I actually used a few packs from the "snack pack" boxes. I usually don't like anything other than pecans or walnuts. This was my first attempt making it myself. I've known it since I could chew whole food. My Gaga's was always the best of course.

****hole in scary part of town “insured by Glock”.
It feels like it’s someone’s turf is only reason why we don’t get rolled in the parking lot. It’s like everyone wants to but just stares and is not allowed. I guess only risk is if there is a war while eating there lol.

They sure seem to have a pretty varied menu and lots of local awards. When we lived in Memphis, the best BBQ joints all seemed to be in sketchy parts of town. I guess a little personal danger makes food taste better!

No beating grandma's. My wife thought my pasta and beans was good tonight. That's because she never had nonna's!

My aunt Josephine used to make a sweet Chex mix with mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, peanuts and such for the holidays. She was wacky but made the best holiday desserts.

Something kinda like this as I recall...

I've heard Cuba is pretty cool place to visit. If the food is anything like Cuban food in South Florida, should be awesome.

I've gone before. The food is pretty good. My brother lived there in the 1990's.

    Turkey. Back end. Nice color.
Flipped it to breast side near end to take temps. Color not great, but breast was very moist. Good smoky flavor, not overpowering.

Served with cranberry sauce (jellied variety from a can) and Stove Top Stuffing (cornbread) - two of my wife's favorites.

It's a wild rice blend that I've used for close to 10 years probably, plus broccoli. Also a little more than two cups of shredded chicken I pulled from a rotisserie chicken I bought at the HEB. Came out really good.

I never heard of these towns, and I'm a geography buff. You're knocking it out of the park! Safe travels.

Tonight, continuation of the childhood favorites theme. I made for my wife something my grandma made for us as kids. Usually, if we pestered her while she was cooking the Sunday meal (had to be careful, a little pestering got you fed; too much pestering got you her big wooden spoon upside the head! ) Take some Italian bread. Put tomato gravy on it, add mozz. Chuck in a hot oven for about 10 min. Voila. Italian bread pizza!

I got a ***or 8qt multi-cooker and broke it in with some rigatoni and meatballs last night.

20 minutes and really good. Next will be some savory short ribs of some kind.

    * edit: LOL - the filter wouldn't let me type the name so.....

There's a "Chili" preset on it for a 15 min cook time.

I had a crock pot and a pressure cooker (and no counterspace issue) but I replaced them with this for 2 reasons: 1)8qt vs 6 and 2)The useful browning/saute feature the others didn't have.
