but... (fill in the blanks, my expectations below) will have GPF, better looks, re-body, automatic emergency braking (+other ADAS) same power or no more than 15 PS as 812SF $100K higher base price -or- there is no 812VS at all...and Ferrari uses all production for the 812GTS remembering the SF90 has been set as the new top car how can an 812VS with less 1000 PS make any sense? or, if less power makes sense how it can be priced higher than the SF90 for less power? real quandary for the factory...
The power ??? who really care in real life ??? SF 90 is not in the same range... It s impossible to compare a Seiko with a Patek
Each one has its own target market. The SF90 Stradale will be the quicker and more focused driver's car. The 812SV will have that glorious V12.
I understand and agree with your point. So definitely +1 for me. BUT- I think the world is changing and the next generation(s) actually don't even care about watches, so they will say Seiko, Patek? Who cares, I just look at my iPhone. I think the SF90S is aimed more at them. I have to tell you, as a lover of the Ferrari V12, and someone who often thinks of it in the same way as the Patek, I also find the SF90S fascinating. I can't wait to drive one! But being that I am not in the up and coming generations, if you ask me what's more exciting, I naturally will say a powerful V12 than a hybrid setup.... however, what happens when we try the hybrid and its really good? Can there be room for both? Just rambling, carry on...
I m thinking you ll feel a lack of " emotions " due to the engine...It missing something in noise and the power way s delivery ... Buy the 812 VS, the last of a family line (in a way )
Thank you. And I agree with you, and I am sure I will agree even more when we see what they have for the (possible?) 812 “VS”. In my case, there is just as much emotion with the Pista as I find with my 458 Italia (which is tweaked and LOUD). It’s a different sound, but I think the two key areas that any ICE car has over EV are sound and the shifting gears- even when its automated. The EV is just pure efficiency in terms of deploying power. That’s great, but that’s like an watch vs a Patek as you would say. So I think hybrid could give us the best of both worlds as the power now days is hard for these cars to reliably deploy- right now with the winter here, I dont drive my 812 because I just spin the rears- kind of funny but annoying after a while. I have proper winter tires on my GTC4 and it is so much fun to drive- with the aid of the 4RM on the front. I think the hybrid can give us that while retaining the sound and gear shifting fun from the ICE. That is the best case for hybrid- best of both worlds- EV instant torque and AWD as how Ferrari is doing it with SF90 (they dont have to do AWD for all of course). But I have to admit there could be a worst of both worlds- weight and size for carrying two different propulsion systems.. However, I think Ferrari is really such a master of building cars that are fun to drive and engage our emotions, I just don’t think they are going to disappoint us. I would say "the best of both worlds". Electrics don't have the range and ICEs can benefit from the instant torque and eco credentials.
My cars have zero eco credentials. I consider that a benefit as an owner and driver. Its OK that everyone else needs them so the Earth can be a better place.
