Hi All - I thought I would say hi and post a pic of my first Ferrari, a 1984 308 QV GTS with 44K miles. I've had many Porsche 911's over the years but thought for turning 50 I need something a bit more unique.

Just had a full major 30K engine out service, steering rack and pinion rebuilt, transmission service, water pump, and various hoses from a Ferrari shop in Chicago. Now it lives in Florida where it belongs :)

I've been reading all the post as a newbie and just tons of good info. I had that chirp/squeal in the tailpipes, found that roll up a piece of Stainless Steel trick and it worked like a charm, no more chirp!!!

    Great car,

    jim

Jim, from another 1984 GTS QV owner here, congrats and welcome to the 3x8 family. Just curious what’s the S/N (last five digits) of your 308, and can you post more pics please? Thanks Jim.

Gotcha, good to know. Entertaining vehicle, may be the first car I don't bother turning on the radio or caring what the stereo sounds like.

Congratulations. Bet your heart thumps harder looking at the 308 vs 911?

Jim, Welcome! Nice 308 GTS QV!

First order of business - ditch the chrome license plate frame and change to black :)

You'll learn a lot here, so enjoy...
e.g. use NO products on the the targa top except water (+soap), and proper technique for closing engine lid, best method for storing targa top, and put protective film on your foglight lenses, etc.

308 is Way better!!! Best thing I can say is I dont turn on the radio in the 308. On the 911's I did.

911 is kinda boring in the looks dept. compared to the 308. In my humble opinion

Good point, Chrome is not 308. I'll have to see if there is a new owner thread with do's and dont's

What I need to hunt down is an old Nakamichi Cassette deck or Blaupunkt. Just for the esthetics. What was the 1984 factory brand?

Appears to be a Blaupunkt Richmond. Or something similar.

There was no factory brand. Radios were dealer installed and included the brands mentioned as well as Pioneer and Sony and a lot of Alpine of which there are plenty on eBay under “vintage car stereo”

From what I heard. There was no official radio - it was a blank plate. It was the head unit dujour. ma lot of the folks will tell you the only sound system is behind your firewall.

Yeah I'd rather not spend $400 just for it to look period correct, I stumble across something one of these days. Yeah Alpine shaft cassette would look goos.
