Hi im back in the 348 brotherhood. I just picked up a 94 spider. It appears there is a handle that unlatches the front of the convertible top, but the problem is the handle is gone. Any tricks on getting the front of the top unlatched to get it down and work on replacing the release lever? Remove those two covers over the locking arms and manually force them open?
    Thanks

This is what's there. I assumed the handle came down towards the floor, but maybe there is enough left there to turn it back towards the seats that's how it works (?) the handle turns back towards the seats/drivers head? Thanks

Yes, unless you have a right hand drive car ;)

It looks like you have to knock the small pin out to replace the handle.

I recall that that the spring loaded pivot point 1/4 way down the handle is only for allowing you to pull part of the handle away from flush, so you have a better grip on the handle and so you won't skin your knuckles. I guess it also prevents damage to the wedge-shaped striker plate which is soft and easily scratched.
