51 Coolest Cars

In 2014, Road & Track put together a list of what it considered the 51 coolest cars made since 1964, polling such notables as Nick Mason, Jay Leno, and Jay Gooding. I felt an American-car bias (R&T is after all a US magazine), but many of the choices matched mine.

Only three cars from Marenello made the list - the 330 P4, the 288 “GTO,” and ... the Dino.

I don’t want to post this in the Vintage section.

Haha, but so does Ferrari.

Peter Egan retired in 2013 from R&T, and the magazine began its decline then, principally as a result of market forces, I feel. This issue was not still all right. The last issues I received in 2019 were not good at all.

 

The Dino’s cousin, the Stratos, made the list too. R&T devoted full-page write-ups on only four cars in the list: the Gurney Eagle, the Ferrari 288, the McClaren F1, and the Stratos.
