For the Pista I think it was black by default but as mentioned previously for the F8 it's a charged option to have it black - and indeed body color is the "standard" configuration (although it sems all demo cars have the black paint).
As noted by coincid above. There is no extra cost if painted body color. The charge as noted above is if you want it in black.
I should have qualified my post as referring to our Pista. Didn’t realize it had changed for the F8. My bad.
I remember old aero films in the old days about the turbulence in that area, a circular pattern.. maybe the black option is to hide possible foreign bodies from the s duct Air flow from pitting the paint in that area. Only a guess.

I heard the Coupé and Spider live. There are worlds between the 488 and F8 in terms of sound. You can compare the F8 to a stock 911 turbo. Even the Pista sounds way less aggressive compared to the regular 488. The times of emotional engine noises are gone.
I don’t know about that. Owned a 488 and now own a Pista. I wouldn’t agree that the Pista sounds less aggressive than the 488.
Agree. My Gtb was definitely not as loud as my Pista.... no doubt in my mind about about that one. Pista is certainly louder and more aggressive than Gtb on idle and when you get on it. With valves held open by valve controller whilst cruising Pista is also louder than the GTB with its valves pegged open by a controller. So yes it's louder and more aggressive than a GTB in every situation.. no question. There is less attenuation in the Pista muffler so it has to be louder than Gtb even in a theoretical sense anyway. It just stands to reason. The only way to make a Pista louder again is to put higher flow cats as the muffler has very very little attenuation and with the valves open it's already a muffler bi-pass so only the cats are muffling. With F8 it's a whole different ball game.....has electronically controlled valves which cant be meddled with along with more muffler attenuation and with cats that can't be meddled with either.
My understanding is it helps reduce glare. Like athletes who put those little black strips on their upper cheeks.
You would think with the matte black area where the wipers are and the fact most get a black dash that would be enough. Looks ok on the Pista, but I certainly would not spend $1200 for it as an option on the F8
