it was through endurance.

i can just cancel it, and the buyer can either get a different one or not at all.
i just got it because i did not want to have unpleasant surprises.

 

all the questions about this, prompted me to go check the contract.

its all paid off. i wont get a refund because i drew down on it already, but for the next owner, they have 18 months of no cost extended warranty coverage.

about 2 weeks ago, an fchatter sent me a few messages saying he wanted the car, and i responded with further details and suggestions on how to get the transaction completed and the car to him.....and then nothing.
no further responses.
i dont know what to make of that, but i guess it means it is still available, altho if he comes back to life i will take it off the board.

latest buyer came back to say he just found out he would be moving abroad, so no longer needs the car.

so it is officially still available !

 

68,500 miles. now.
price for fchatters is $20k flat.
hit me before xmas and it might get better.

yes.
i paused things as a couple fchatters indicated interest, but since they went silent, it is still available.
i am flexible on the price, although it is getting to the point where i might just give it to one of my kids.
i just got back home after nearly a month away and it started right up. i filled the gas, got it washed and took it out for a healthy run for an hour, and it did not disappoint! still the same powerful sexy subtle car.

I wonder what the record is for a car for sale for the longest time on Fchat? Over 2 years and still not sold. I'd have lost patience by now and just sold it to Carmax or something.

 

well its not like i have been trying too hard lately.
its my wife's daily, and she drives it about 2k miles per year. and i have not been that motivated recently since i solved the parking issues in a different way.

68k miles ago it was a $120k car. it has had all of the maintenance and needs taken care of by the dealer, and is in more/less optimum condition for a 12 year old german luxury car, looks and runs great, so there is no reason to fire sale it. at anything lower than about 18-19k, it makes more sense to give it to one of my kids.

 

Maybe my tide will turn and I'll take it.

My uncle had a long string of SLs and they were timeless and as you mention (and what makes this car a real buy) it that this car "needs nothing" and in fact has "had everything" maintained immediately.

There's not many "lightly used" machines out there except among enthusiasts, as gathered here.

The typical Houston Mercedes driver has curb rashed the wheels, scratched and dented it, end to end, and some times drives with four windows down smoking stinky stuff..or, like this one they do low mileage on short trips to and from Neimans

 

I even mentioned it to my Mom, as her "escape from xxxxx…." vehicle.

We were so relieved to get her OUT of her last car, and using the complex provided chauffeur.
My family would be upset to learn I had put her in it, but they don't like me anyway...

This car has the last of the "pretty noses" as all of the new ones due to Euro standards present a face to the wind like that of a brick!

yes, and no.
i took it off the market when i sold my wife's car and gave her this one.
then i put it back on again when she complained of it being too big.
then she got to liking it so i took it off again.
then she started complaining again....and it went back on for real.
then i had 2 different fchatters come to me and say they wanted it, so i took it off the market.
but then they disappeared. one came back with legitimate reasons for having disappeared, and the other remained silent.

so the actual last period of selling was about 6 months of kind of half heartedly just leaving the ad in here, and occasionally seeing it get bumped by people who go through the ads to see whats new.

but yes, it was a lengthy process.
i suppose i could have handled it differently but hind sight is always 2020 isnt it.

 

Just kidding. You didn't need to sell it and waited for the right buyer!
