The hole in the analytics is the loss of interest in cars among the younger generations. F1 is on an irreversible decline, dictated by cultural and demographic changes. Cars are "old stuff." Autonomous PODS-on-demand...like the "pay as you go" scooters and bikes littering the streets, are the closest thing to a new car as there will be in the next ten years. VR 3D drone racing and BattleBot types of contests are much more ingrained in the global young culture. When I first got involved in car clubs, the large majority of members where in their 20s, 30s, and 40s. The So Cal Alfa Owners bought an entire grandstand at the Long Beach F1 GP. Car clubs today have very few young people, most members being in their late 50s, or 60s and 70s. F1 is just not competitive for modern audiences.
Auto racing is on an irreversible decline (not just F1). City people are finding it possible to live entire lives without every owning (or driving) an automobile. Scooters and bikes are already on the decline in Austin--although they seem to litter everywhere.
