Nice article, but not 100% . Yes Ferrari did install that interior in an effort to sell the car way back when.

When did Ferrari take back ownership of the car? I'd have thought Ferrari's only efforts to sell the car would only have been when the car was new. Or did they install the leatherette interior for an owner who was having difficulty selling it?

Many near new Ferrari's especially the race cars, very high end road cars and well connected owners would have their cars rebuilt or at least serviced by Ferrari and sold via Ferrari's network of clients and friendly dealers. 3647GT had an accident at the 1963 Tourist Trophy and likely needed a repair at Maranello and if Prince Zourab Tchkotoua had no further use, Ferrari would have sorted a sale to Boffa and any necessary repairs.

    -Nürburgring 1963.
    -Goodwood 1963.
    -Targa Florio 1965.

There are many pictures and posts about the first 3 accidents in the above list, but what damage was caused at the 1965 Targa Florio?

Do you have any proof that Ferrari actually did this in the case of 3647GT?

Your two first photos show #3705GT during the TF 1963. Same n°112 but different location and only two side openings.

If Ferrari were actually involved and oversaw the numerous body repairs and rebodying of 3647GT would they have restored the body details to as it was when it left the factory, or updated the body, such as having an integrated rear spoiler over its original tacked on spoiler? The body also has the later roof seam, but retains the cabin air vents in the sail panels of the earlier GTOs that 3647GT had originally. 3647GTs body has a mix of early and late GTO details.

Repairs were made by Scaglietti, not Ferrari. I have never seen any documents covering the bodywork changes and modifications, neither by Scaglietti nor by the factory.
That's why it is so important to have as many period photos as possible. The ONLY way to document all that.

I don't think so. See post 5 here. Do you have any information that makes you think that?

Thanks. Yes, I'm sure that is the case generally. Lusso123 stated the owner of 3647 said that Fantuzzi rebodied it. It would be good to know who exactly did what to 3647 after every accident.

I was told this by my friend who owns this car. Probably referring to its last rebuild.

Who oversaw/commissioned/rebodied a car is imperative in establishing the degree of authenticity in a car.
