    Hello all
Thanks for the advice on the sidelights.

I'm also interested in what tyres people are fitting. I've seen a couple of options from Longstone and wondered if anyone had fitted any other alternatives.

I've currently got Pirelli 4000s fitted but it doesn't look like they are manufactured anymore.

    Thanks

The Michelin XWX 215/70 15 is the obvious and available choice. Just wondering about 225/65 15 Pirelli P5 that Longstone have ?. I have a set of virtually new 225/65 P4000 that I am going to trial, the rolling radius is correct just slightly wider giving a more modern square appearance.

If you had metric wheels, as my 412 has, the new TRX tires I just received from Longstone have a Very Fresh date of 3819. And their shipping costs are free.

    I assume your P4000s are 215/60.
P5s look similar to XWX. I am curious about the 225/65 which, whilst not quite correct are £100 each cheaper for a first grade tyre.

The Michelin XWX’s are the right tires. My 77 400 (SN21111) has a windshield sticker specifying them. They fit the wheel well correctly, have just the right profile and provide a more supple ride than the others. I’ve owned a number of Ferrari’s- 330GTCs, Daytona, Boxer. XWXs were the appropriate tire on all of them.

Even the tread is nice looking. Kind of organic in a tire sort of way.

Uhhh I guess I love these tires!!

We only deal in classic tyres.

The only thing that tyre has to do with classic tyres is someone wrote the word classic on the side wall of a holey modern tyre. your cars will drive better on a tyre carcass that is designed to work with that kind of chassis. such as:

Michelin XWX https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/tyres/215-70-15/215-70wr15-michelin-xwx.html that is what Ferrari fitted. Its kind of a no brainer for me.

Pirelli Cinturato CN12 https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/tyres/215-70-15/215-70wr15-pirelli-cinturato-cn12.html This is what Lamborghini and Maserati fitted at the same time. Also perfect.

Pirelli Stelvio https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/tyres/215-70-15/215-70wr15-pirelli-stelvio.html bit of an early tread pattern really and this tyre was designed specifically for the 250 GTO.

Pirelli P5 https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/tyres/215-70-15/215-70-wr-15-pirelli-p5.html Actually designed to improve the handling of Luxury saloon cars with Jaguar in the mid 1970s.

All these tyres, (specially the first 2) are absolutely perfect for these cars, why would you want anything different. Well only if it was cheap as chips i guess. But i don't think that dunlop is that cheap. If they had made a proper period tyre i would get it, but as it stands i just don't get it.
