Apologies if this is addressed in a previous thread, but I'm curious to hear opinions on the two. Obviously, the pista is a special car but can anyone highlight their experiences driving (or test driving) between the two?

Well, they both look like corvettes so there’s also that.

There are not that many F8s in customer hands to gauge the true difference time will tell. having owned a Scud it was raw and made for the track. Pista prices are coming down and there were 4 in the dealer show room begging for buyers when I reconfigured my F8. Just a matter of time before someone puts both to a test.

This has already been done. A member here has just recently done a back to back track test of a Pista and F8. He can chime in if he wants, not my place to do so. But I can tell you the difference was pretty significant.

I don’t know everyone but I don’t think this sub section of the forum is near complete without at least 5 more Pista vs F8 threads.

Came here hoping for resale/depreciation thoughts. Disappointed. Hopefully the subject gets touched on.

Whats not obvious to your question? Limited production car that was sold out vs. Anyone can walk in and buy one. Just look at for sale ads online for resale on the Pista not to mention the other 1000 posts.

I think his post was sarcasm. Since the topic brought up every other day.

My first analysis was that the F8 was better value for money than the Pista.
But now, with the 488 GTB prices crushed, the 488 GTB is the best value for money, and by so much that the debate between the Pista and F8 has become irrelevant.
Some may still argue that my perception of value for money is not accurrate, maybe because I do not acknowledge the famous law of diminished returns for what it's worth.

Well. I walked in to reconfigure my F8 (added carbon). I paid my 20 grand deposit April 3 rd of last year and still being told I will be lucky to get an allotment by this April So don’t give us that crap that anyone can walk in and get an allotment for a F8. There were 4 Pistas sitting in the showroom with low miles when I visited, I don’t see any sarcasm in the OPs quest for information and benchmarking. The cost delta between the two are narrowing and those on the fence have a choice between buying your so called limited production Pista and the latter.

I dunno. I thought the 458 was supposed to be the one we all should want. So I suppose both the Pista and F8 suck.

To summarize my recent track experience with these two: - F8 is ok up until such time Pista is driven, then, at that time, F8 basically became a car of no further interest. For those wishing to maintain an interest in F8 as a drivers car I would not recommend driving the Pista. That's pretty well the short and long of it.

I guess you could bring a 458 into the ring with these two but I personally don't think it will ever feel the same again....so no I wouldn't recommend doing that if you own one. Sometimes to keep that dream alive you're better staying well away from certain things.

Agree. It was merely an attempt at being humourus:)

Nothing wrong with a little humor!:)

Driver sensations and connection are key elements, so anyone claiming a better connection with flawed and outdated engineering - confusing it as superior sensation to the driver - particularly when the later engineered cars deliver infinitely superior connection and sensation to the driver only indicts a sheer lack of first hand experience.

Not looking to upset 458 owners but pitching it up against these two on a circuit would be an exercise in futility. And any claim that having a superior sound somehow substitutes for the inferior connection and feel is again pointless pretending. The differences amongst these 3 (Pista F8 458) ARE quite profound! Make no mistake about it. F8 is not a Pista light nor is 458 a driving sensation in comparison.

I believe that one can find driving pleasure in many different cars. The Pista is more intense, that is its purpose after all. That doesn't mean that the F8 isn't exciting though, it's just different.

True. People often look in the past through their rose tinted glasses...
