Pricing trends on 512 TR and 512 M

I almost bought this one but lost out. My max was 240k and it sold for 250k in 2015 at Mecum.

it now sold for 179k, wow!

I also offered 240k for the 1992 512tr at R&H Motorcar in Ohio in 2015 and the guy basically laughed at me. They still have it for sale for 279.

I think these cars are worth way more than they are currently going for and likely will jump on one soon. It is nice to know that I might have saved 100k by waiting though.

 

I have a 1993 Japan specification with 67k km (42k miles) that I might consider selling. It is with me here in Japan though! More than happy to mention condition etc. as I know the car pretty well. It was a driver until 2 years ago and post baby have not used it much at all.

The Japanese spec 512TR are all LHD. They are basically the same as the Euro spec. ABS, and no automatic seatbelts. I think a few other minor differences. Red/black. ZFFLA40JAP0096535. I am on the site registered here if you look at my history. I feel I know this car pretty well now.

There are many cars, that are imported in Japan afterwards. Same as in the UK.

 

I agree with a lot of these comments. I traded my 92 512TR two years ago and shipped it to several dealers. It had 14k miles and was perfect. The best number I got was $177k and the market is softer now. Asking prices on exotics are always all over the board and some ask crazy prices hoping to get lucky. The best way to determine value is what they are actually selling for. Check the auction sites like B-J, RM, etc for recent sales. I also find Sports Car Market magazine a great reference when buying and selling classics and exotics. I still regret trading mine. They are wonderful cars.

Anyone have 1st hand knowledge of this car? Current Services? Needs or actual condition?

#4 Red/Tan is still in my possession and owner is holding at $380k asking price
But its serviced and anything that anyone has ever pointed out as " needing to be addressed " has been address!

for price comparison in that very small market of M's you could check the one that wearecurated in miami is selling with 6k miles.

 

FYI - My '86 Testarossa LHD (Euro spec) I bought was imported from Japan to the UK a couple of years ago, but was originally from Germany...

 

I would let it go for 140k. Very few RHD Ferraris in Japan and there was no 512TR RHD sold in Japan. You can even see the "JAP" in my VIN. I occassionally see RHD 360s and 430s but rarely anything in generations before that

 

What would a 92 with 45k miles and up to date mechanicals fetch these says fellas?

 

Condition and history would be everything on any of these cars. If it were a condition 1 car I would say 140k-145. But if it’s anything less than that you would have to deduct. Also remember, the cheapest Ferrari will be the most expensive one to own. Every great mechanic will tell you that FYI. Always keep that in mind.

Yes for sure it’s actually the one I’ve previously owned, so I’d be buying it back. Some great mechanic serviced her but she’s got more mileage. Seller asking $189k, i felt like he might be 50k high.

 

Yes it is a bit, but don’t let that discourage you make them an offer and sit back and wait for them to get realistic.

Sold for $205k before fees. I wouldn't let that determine market price, thats a Classiche car, 1993 Model Year and got strong money. I was just offered a 29k mile 1 owner car for $129k (1992) with new clutch and belts done in 2019.

What I wrote is correct. The UK got RHD cars, Japan did not. Later Ferraris came in RHD but the 512TR in Japan was never sold as RHD.
