It is one of those movies that people like only because other people like it.

I thought they were kidding by nominating it.

Rocky I,II,III. I had never seen any of the Rocky movies back in the day and my friends are always telling me ya gotta see at least one. Over the course of the last two weekends I had some spare time and watched the first three.

    Bad Boys 3.

It sucked. Awful. The plot is weak. The end is terrible. And it did not have the beautiful imagery from.1 and 2 (i guess michael bay touch?).

It felt like a fast and furious knock off.

For me, this movie was inspiring. What those soldiers had to go through, and persevered.

The German pilot looked like he came right out of a Hanna-Barbera cartoon. His big knife caught my eye, and I said to myself - you guys better take that thing away from him !

Watched a French film on TCM tonight called "Elevator to the Gallows". It had a MB 300SL Gullwing in the film. Really cool to see this vehicle in operation. TCM will replay the film Sunday morning (3-22-20).

Excellent film...directed by Clint Eastwood. Sam Rockwell is one of my favorite actors and does a fantastic job.

My wife found it on Starz...some sort of Wu-flu free promo.
Nice to see a lot of cars I'd only seen on static display being used as intended.

Enzo, Dino, Collins, Hawthorne, Portago. Pretty intense few years for all concerned.

I thought it was average (like most movies out there). Good? No, but definitely not awful.

By far the worst movie I've seen lately is Midsommar. An idiotic concept for a movie, and just plain unwatchable crap.

Mine 9 is another that's just okay.

Blow The Man Down (on Prime) was pretty good. The ending just sort of leaves you hanging.....thinking "hmm, so that's how it is in a small town."

I saw a movie I had heard about for a long time called the 7 samurai, which was made about 1954 in Japan. Its a classic. The Magnificent Seven was based on it.

But the subject matter is far deeper and emotional than the Yul Brynner / Steve McQueen western. It deals with subjects like rape and physical abuse. Of human suffering and vengeance. Of ordinary people becoming blood thirsty murderers when pressed to the edge and how it changes them. Of how people react when they believe they are certain to die the next day. Of shame and suicide. Of morality and perversion. Of human sacrifice for another human they barely know.

    Some spoilers here:

Just a clue. There's a scene where a man's wife is kidnapped and raped by the outlaws and she would rather commit suicide by burning to death in front of him than return to the husband she loves to not face the shame. There's a old woman who beats a tied up prisoner to death while everyone watches so she can avenge the death of her son. Really dark stuff.

Remarkable stuff for what would become the great granddaddy of all samurai fighting movies to come. Its 3 hours long but worth the visit.
