You would have to call an AD. These are tough to get. My AD got one last year and one this year. Hard to buy this cold but you never know. Calls a few authorized dealers and see if you can get lucky.

I knew it was a shot in the dark, but called both ADs and there was basically no movement on the waitlist I got on last year. Boo, anyone have a better AD to deal with?

Its not the AD. They are just limited with stock on these steel pieces and if they had more they would sell more. But each AD has a list of regular customers that buy a lot of watches and those customers get priority. Ive been buying from the same AD for 20 years and have spent a considerable penny.

Last year my AD got 1 green aquanaut. This year he got 1 green aquanaut. I wasn't first on his list to get the watch but second. I had to wait 12 months to get my green one.

So its not a matter of finding a better AD to deal with. If you want these hard to get pieces you have 2 options

1- Buy grey and pay market price. The 5968 retails for 45k I think and they are listed in the 90k range.
2- develop that relationship with the AD which is code for buy watches there. I have a friend who last year bought himself a 5524r, bought a ladies Twenty Four - the new round model for his wife and magically was able to get a nautilus this year. His wife bought some jewelry. He built the relationship buy buying watches and jewelry and being a good customer.

You might say that you don't want to buy watches that you dont want just to get the watch that you do want- well, totally fine. But no AD will just sell you impossible to get pieces because they have good customers waiting for them.

Good luck on your hunt- I hope this wasn't discouraging but gives you some insight into the world of Patek.

Nah, it makes sense, it’s just logistics. I’d buy some other models if I found one I liked. It’s just as you said, buy on the secondary or buy into one

Nice rubber strap. Is it a PP or a third party strap?

Thanks! It's the OEM strap, kind of suede calfskin. Give a less formal look. Love it! ;)
