Interesting take on dealing with this issue - https://www.bloomberg.com/europe

Boris Johnson’s government hasn’t quite said it, but it’s plan for tackling coronavirus is clear: Slow the disease’s spread, but don’t stop it. Most people will get the disease, a lot of them will feel very ill, but almost all of them will recover.

The goal is “herd immunity” -- the point where a high enough proportion of the population has had an illness, and gained immunity to it, that it won’t be transmitted to those who haven’t had it. The aim is to achieve this over the summer months, before the next winter sets in.

“What you can’t do is suppress this thing completely, and what you shouldn’t do is suppress it completely,” Patrick Vallance, the U.K.’s chief scientific adviser, said on Monday. “All that happens then is it pops up again later in the year, when the NHS is at a more vulnerable stage in the winter, and you end up with another problem.”

Keep Calm and Wash Your Hands: Britain’s Strategy to Beat Virus

David Halpern, head of the government’s Behavioral Insights Team and a member of the committee managing the U.K.’s outbreak response, said the plan is to build community immunity to a level that means those most at risk are protected.

“There’s going to be a point, assuming the epidemic flows and grows as we think it probably will do, where you want to cocoon, you want to protect, those at risk groups so that they basically don’t catch the disease, and by the time they come out of their cocooning, herd immunity’s been achieved in the rest of the population” Halpern told the BBC.

This explains why the timing of restrictions is so tricky -- and the challenge for Johnson, as he comes under pressure to step up the response, is so great.

Great, take a break, come back with new regs in 21.
Let’s be honest, if we believe Binotto, 2020 wasn’t shaping up well in any case

Clearly, this will not be the last race canceled. If the criteria is a single team member contracting the disease and that team pulling out, it will be impossible to find a team and/or a country where the threat is not above this threshold. I would say that this season is effectively over before it begins.

You're more at risk than the average person? Because of your health issues you had a while ago?

San Francisco is also doing drive-through testing as well, but needs a doctor’s approval. I’m assuming depending how the situation evolves there won’t need to be a prerequisite to driving through

I just watched an interview with a fellow who is in isolation as a result of Wuhan Flu. He is 68 years old and suffers from Guillain–Barré syndrome. After he contracted the disease he had a high fever for 6-8 hours with a strong cough. The good news is that he now has no fever and just a mild cough that gets better every day. The bad news is that 36 days after being diagnosed he is still testing positive and is therefore contagious. He is being tested daily. He cannot be released until he tests negative three times in a row.

If the 36-day scenario applies to McLaren or just a few members, they might have to quit for this year or find a whole new team.

Actually there is a study from Germany that states that the contagious part goes way down after 14 days. To the point that you still test positive but are no longer contagious.
