Chaps Just bolted the engine back in and I have a wiring connections I can't remember. Its a 5.2 car. There is a black 3 pin female plug just to the right the oil filter and I can't for the life of me recall where it goes? Can someone help out pls?
Hey, Anyway you can give us a photo of what your working with? Might give some of us a clearer picture.
Not sure I can tonight, but down that side of the V there's the fuel injector plugs, the 2 coolant plugs and the cam phase sensor, all of which are done, I just can't for the life of me see / recall where this plug goes. For clarity, its not the 3 which cover IAT, Idle control or MAF.
You should have taken a picture before you took it off. To the right of the oil filters there are 4 or 5 connectors. Show me a picture of it and I'll tell you where it goes.
Best Guess: see that T hose 4 inches to its left? Into the hose is the Idle Control Valve. The connector goes to the ICV. Better yet, peel back the boot, tell me the colors of the wires and I will confirm what connector that is.
Here's a list of 3 pin plugs on the harness: Crank sensor (front of engine) Knock sensors (L&R) Throttle potentiometer Idle speed regulator Cam sensor
Peel back the boot, tell me the color of the wires and I will know which one that is. Cam sensor has a blue connector Throttle position sensor has a grey connector Knock sensor has a black connector Crank sensor is black but it is no where near that position.
Judging from my engine I would guess the crank sensor Find the crank sensor on the bank 1 side and follow it back the plug is probably hiding in their somewhere
Invaluable, thank you. Your post spotted what my tired eyes missed. I’d put the throttle position plug onto the crank angle and forgotten about the TPS. All swapped now and hopefully sorted. Sodding chassis bolts next
They're mostly in, aside from the 2 really awkward ones near the oil tank. Meanwhile, my next issue is a snapped coolant union barb (part 157160) which is awkward to reach without dropping the engine. Again.
Interesting. Seems that my 2 year old harness has a few other quirks. My colours: TPS and knock sensor is black IAC is grey Cam sensor blue I have no CELs and the car runs fine.
Broke it on my first engine out Tapped and replaced with a brass one for plumbing. It’s been through 2 more engine outs and is easily to get at. My guess is you will be fine. Good luck
It connects to the sensor attached to the rubber Y piece i think, can't remember what is called but it is the air sensor i believe.
