I know he is getting older and he has accomplished very much, but it seems he is settling... https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/news/vettel-happiness-more-important-than-money-in-next-f1-deal.1523/
He's already very wealthy. I can see that after a certain point, money isn't really an important factor in the decision-making process anymore. I would think that the prospect of winning a 5th title to have done it with more than one team, and especially to have had a title with Ferrari, is a strong motivator. All the best, Andrew.
He says he will not be driving F1 10 years from now ..this is worrying.Maybe he wants a 3 year contract ? omg please no.
Agree'd. With a very renewed interest on cost, how attractive is Vettel now to other teams. He is not worth what he is paid now with Ferrari's new offer of 1 year and very reduced salary. I think he simply wants to keep racing like Kimi. Why bother hiring him when there is talent for much less money.
If F1 capped driver pay at £1m per year....guess what ? They'd all still choose to drive. Where else will they earn 1 million for doing something they love, and all travel costs covered.
Vettel may be more attractive to sponsors than an unknown driver? Off the track, Vettel is very good PR wise.
Let's not forget that this is also a signal to other teams that he is available cheaper than they might have thoght -- so this is Vettel saying "if the situation is right, you can get me cheap"
Ferrari has already thrown in the towel on 2021. They keep doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results.
The price tag put on a driver is clear indication of his desirability, whatever he could say about it. When an ex-champ like Raikkonen is paid a lot less than Ricciardo, Verstappen or Bottas, you have a clear indication of his career decline. More than half a decade after his last title, Vettel is less attractive to any employer, hence his diminishing value on the drivers market.
REPORT: VETTEL TURNS DOWN FERRARI RENEWAL OFFER http://www.gptoday.com/full_story/view/716168/Report_Vettel_turnsdown_Ferrari_renewal_offer/ Per La Gazetta dello Sport, the Scuderia offered Vettel a one-year, €12 million extension to his current expiring contract, which is believed to pay him upwards of €40m annually. The report states that Vettel rejected the terms in the hope he can secure at least a two-year deal, at his current yearly salary.
We dont need 1 more year. We do not need him for 2. He had his run. Please leave and let the team and Charles move on!
He must be dreaming if he thinks he can still command the same wage (€40M) after years of decline, and also be offered a 2-year extension. There are drivers who can surely do the same job at a fraction of the price !
And hopefully make fewer errors as well. And not act like a spoiled brat at the end of the race...........
