    Thanks -- I guess we can conclude for now that the data is:

    1. Not all versions got one
    2. Early US version don't have it.
    3. Late US version do have it.

    Hope more TR Owners will post their situation for this issue. The page in the 587/90 SPC (TAV 104) of the frame piece to which it is riveted does not show it (but many of these figures are generated very early and are not updated).

    "All Testarossas produced after June 1st 1989 (around s/n 83xxx), will also have an assembly number, which can be found on a small plate at the right side of the engine compartment."

    In my case the assembly number is 01371 and the vin is 84505. Take it from there for a correlation. Car is Euro spec and was originally sold into Japan.
