I've heard 20-30 over, but that also was for one with a high 500k msrp. I think with pista/pista spider lots depend on the msrp. The higher the msrp, the less your getting over/under.
There were 35 Speciales for sale when I bought mine in January. Down to 22? Yeah the prices on these are still 350+ for low mileage, no story examples. A few with higher miles can be had for less. Beautiful rosa corsa one listed at 309K with 11,500 miles. There is a really nice looking Pista for just under 400K as well, I don't think its highly optioned though: https://newengland.ferraridealers.com/en_us/search-used-ferrari/2020/ferrari/488_pista/2020_ferrari_488_pista-ferrari_of%20new%20england-ZFF90HLA5L0248955
In the current climate my guess is that the number of actual transactions will dramatically decrease, and they will be at significantly lower price. People willing to buy will wait for crushed prices (nobody really needs to buy an exotic, so in times of uncertainties the only incentive will be adropped price), so that the only people selling will be the ones with no choice.
Ah, thank you! The spartan interior definitely makes sense then, and I think should be judged in context.
Actually looks like #3413, a '62 GTO rebodied in '64 style - sold by Sotheby's in 2018. Back to topic - I think the thread title has become old news now, the new question is how much less.
It's not the case in Europe (yet?) but apart from the artificially inflated initial price of the Pista, in the medium term it would make sense - with the 458 Italia / 488 GTB having a limited price gap, I struggle to see any reason for the Pista to maintain a huge price gap with the Speciale.
I just chatted with Charlie Miles today. He said business actually picked up for his firm during Covid-19. I've known him for over 10 years, and he's been in the business almost 20, so when he speaks, I tend to shut up and listen. @ttforcefed sent you a PM with his info if you're looking for CGT, he might have one that meets your criteria.
Yeah it’s kinda nuts! I’m debating what to add to the modern sports car contingent of my garage which is currently a 720s Spider and speciale. A F12 tdf, Pista Spider, or an 812 GTS? I just heard I got an allocation for the 812 GTS. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!!
hmmm, if the 812GTS is 500k, the answer is I don't know... Definitely not pista spider. You have 720s spider already.
Mike, I'm just trying to understand what/why/how have you come to a place where you consistently make statements like the above with such gumption? Seriously, I've noticed you have many (let me try to be diplomatic) let's say not factual proclamations. I certainly appreciate and, at times, adore contrarians, but after a while, I do genuinely wonder your motives (perhaps social pathology) when said proclamations tend to be very negative against this community, but at the same time are so easily disproven. Case in point, when you said last that Motortrend published fake/false/ Ferrari tests, yet when I respectfully ask you to provide evidence, you avoid the good-faith dialogue. *** Once again, you make the bold statement the Great Recession "knocked down exotics massively" Really? Ferrari went from 6,587 units sold in 08' to 6,250 in 09', and then after another couple of years 7,000+ in the midst of the 'last recession" you quote above. Here's the classic market (I shaded the area considered by NBER as the recession)
Thanks all. Yeah I'm leaning towards the TDF, its hands down one of my favorite cars ever built. I think there might be a matching one to my speciale which would be sweet. That being said the 812 GTS is also such a beautiful car, especially in blu america. I drive my cars, special edition or not. So thats not really a factor for me. The TDF sounds like a dream but a convertible V12 is an equally delightful proposition. I do like the way the pista spider looks but you're right the 720s fills that void well.
Trade the Speciale for an Aperta, and buy a TDF. You would have a great spider and the raw performance of the TDF. I’ve owned both an 812 and a TDF and sold the 812. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
Very well spoken. I don't know about the current car-delar situation in the states but here in Sweden exotics sales are going up, the same with boats (bigger boats). Seems some non car owner her on this forum are just plain jealous because they still can't afford something else than a skateboard, @Shadowfax had to quote you on that one, had me laughing so hard
