    Gentleman -

Am I crazy ? Keep looking at Vipers ( owned a 2001 RT / 10 fifteen years ago ) - think the '96/'97 classic blue with white racing stripes GTS would be a "keeper" and look great in my garage.

Found this thread which I actually commented on - LOL

Good choice for a keeper IMO. Very raw car with no nannies, some parts of the interior are not great. Plan on an exhaust if you want it to sound better.

Had a 99 ACR, 99 was last year with Forged pistons but that wouldn't stop be from buying a 2000+ GTS again. liked the car but desperately needs a brake upgrade they just didn't feel comforting. Otherwise I enjoyed it but the cabin did get warm even with the exhaust out the rear. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

You definitely want a 2002 or later for ABS. With abs the minuscule piston of the rear calipers was replaced with a larger bore piston. Before 02 the rear brakes were all but useless. This was done to prevent rear lockup. The earlier rear calipers could be bored out and a larger piston fitted making them useful but more prone to get a rear lockup.Car is a tank otherwise and problem free. GTS Bruce

I had a 98 for a summer. Loved it. Sold it because I didn't really want red and a buddy made me an offer I could not refuse. Once I get some things (car wise) back in order I'm definitely getting back into a Gen 2 RT/10. I missed out on a silver/tan 98 RT/10 (only 50 made int hat color combo) and have been looking for that one ever since.

I am the original owner of a 1997 GTS blue with white strips . The car has only slightly more than 5000 miles on it. I've collected multi cars over the yrs. and this was one of my favorites. I think the car has exceptional collector value as that is the yr. USA won Le Mons for the second time, absolutely gorgeous, and limited production.

What exhaust ? What would that combo give for horsepower if stock was 450 ?

I ran a full Belanger Exhaust on my Gen II. I think it dyno'ed 420-430 hp at the wheels (from memory).

I'm sorry mike as haven't been on site for awhile. Will have the wife download some pictures of the B/W 97 GTS Viper as soon as she has time.

I am about to pull the trigger on an ACR. I can’t it out of my mind. I think it’s an end of era type car. I want to gather up as many of those I can, while I can. Here’s a question for the Viper experts. I’m a big dude...6’6” 255lbs. Will I fit? I am not expecting to be comfortable. I am never comfortable in strict sense of the expression. I just want to make sure I can fit enough to be able to drive it.

maybe...there are seat lowering kits, but, might be tight still if you have a helmet on...
