Hi All, I have been replacing/updating my relays and thought I would check over my fuses. I'm using a light. Car off. But does the car need to be in the on position or started in order to check some of the fuses?

    Thanks for any help!

I just pulled them all and replaced them all as the prongs get corroded, I did the same with all the relays.

Are you checking the fuses in-situ or removing them?

I haven't got my diagrams handy at the moment, but most fuses will either be powered straight from the battery or powered by the ignition key (ON/RUN). There may be a few fuses only active when certain relays are energised (I think the fuel pump fuse/s are an example). There are fuses elsewhere on the car, so you would have to take them on a case by case basis. Some systems (or subsystems) may even be unfused.

Having problems with a particular system or just carrying out general maintenance?

If you are just testing the fuse itself, You can check them in situ car turned off; just check the resistance across the fuse!

You can check spade fuses across the tops typically if that' the question.
